You are using SAP HANA as the database. If you store your business data in SAP HANA, you do not require any additional search technology to use Enterprise Search. Enterprise Search enables direct search access to your business data stored in the tables in SAP HANA.

You are using one of the databases for SAP Business Suite, but not SAP HANA. In this scenario, you need to connect an additional search technology. This can be either the standalone engine Search and Classification (TREX) or SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse Accelerator (BWA).
