STUDENT GUIDE TO VIDEO CONFERENCING SOFTWARE

GOOGLE MEET

PREPARATION

PREPARATION

• Students need computing devices like laptops or handphones.

• For this exercise, students need to download Google Meet Apps onto their handphones with Wifi.

• Students can sign in using Google Gaps account.

• App Store : Hangouts Meet by Google

SIGN IN TO YOUR GAPS ACCOUNT

Key in your gaps email

TO JOIN A MEETING

• You will receive a URL link from your teacher via Class Whatsapp or via SLS announcement.

• Click on the link to join the meeting.

• The app will auto launch and you will join the meeting automatically

FIRST TIME USER

• Allow Meet to take pictures and record video

• Allow Meet to record audio

MUTE YOUR AUDIO AND DISABLE THE VIDEO

• Mute the Audio at bottom left corner of screen.

• Disable the Video.

• Listen to instructions from Teacher.

RAISE QUESTIONS• You can ask questions using the chat icon.

• Type in your questions so that your teacher can reply you.

Click on Chat icon

LEAVE THE VIDEO CONFERENCE

• Your teacher will end the conference using his or her computers.

• You need to exit the apps.

Important

• Do not simply close the app, you need to leave the meeting. Otherwise, the app will continue to run in the background and everyone can see and hear what you doing.

VIDEO CONFERENCING – COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL1. All students need to mute the audio sound and

disable “Start Video” immediately when joining the group.

2. Teachers will read instructions to students.

VIDEO CONFERENCING – COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL

1. Students can raise question by typing in chat feature.

2. Do not use it for private, non-work related chatting.

STUDENTS – SETTING AND ATTIRE• Choose an appropriate venue to start your video conference, eg. Living Room

or Study Room. Do not use bedroom, kitchen, toilet or noisy environment for your conference.

• Please be appropriately attired. Do not start a video conference in pyjamas or inappropriate clothing, E.g tank tops or T-shirts with explicit wordings and graphics.

• Ensure proper grooming. Make sure you are neat and tidy.

• Pay attention to your background. Make sure that your camera/webcam is not facing the toilet.
