K‐12 Chapel

On Tuesday, students, administrators, faculty and staff gathered in the Lower Gym for the first all school chapel of the school year. The service began 

with the tradi onal procession of the seniors alongside the kindergarteners.

Club Day

On Tuesday, Upper School students gathered in the Lower Gym to see the various club offerings at ‘Iolani. Approximately 75% of our students par cipate 

in at least 1 club.

Key Club Event

‘Iolani school hosted a 2‐day Regional Training Conference for all Key Clubs in the state of Hawaii. ‘Iolani Key Club Faculty advisors, Lisa Preston and 

Meliame Uyema, were instrumental to the success of the event. They, along with the Key Club officers, Kyani Uchimura ‘19, Nicole Yanke ‘20, Bella Chen 

‘19 , Ashley Kim ‘20, Isabella Lee ‘20, Kaila Sung ‘21, and Jodi Hinderleider ‘21 were gracious hosts to the 190 Key Clubbers and advisors from high 

schools all over the state.

The Regional Training Conference is an annual mee ng of all of the Key Clubs in the State of Hawaii.  It is one of the two  mes that all of the divisions get 

together to a end training workshops run by student leaders of the Key Clubs.  Officers and members discuss leadership and communica on skills. It 

includes at least one community service ac vity. This year we baked cookies, packed these in decorated bags with inspira onal words of encouragement 

and delivered these to the Waikiki Health Center through the Director of Homeless Services.  We also did ac vi es to donate money to the Pediatric 

Trauma Program at Kapiolani Hospital. We also have several bonding ac vi es and ice breakers. Iolani has been the host for the past 15 ‐ 16 years. We 

all sleep on the floor in Seto Hall. It's inspira onal to see so many young people who want to help others through community service ac vi es.

Seventh Graders Discover ‘Iolani

The class of 2023 par cipated in ROPES ac vi es, worked together in teams crea ng an art project, and followed a scavenger hunt all over campus.  

Rhonda Nagao coordinated a day designed to help the students learn about their campus and about ‘Iolani as a school. Students new to ‘Iolani and 

those coming from our Lower School had a chance to get to know one another while working in teams.

One component of DID has always been service, and this year the service/art project designed by Holly Chung created a learning board for K‐1 students.

Named Scholarship Breakfast

On Friday morning, the annual Named Scholarship breakfast was held in Seto Hall. This event gives donors a chance to meet and connect with the 

student recipients. In a endance were student scholars, donors, Board of Governors, administrators and representa ve faculty members.

Girls Volleyball

The Girls Varsity 1 Volleyball team lost a highly compe ve match vs. the Warriors of Kamehameha (22‐25, 25‐20, 19‐25) at Kekuhaupio Gymnasium on 

the Kamehameha campus. The Raiders are back in ac on on Tuesday at 5pm vs. Maryknoll at Punahou.

Cross Country

The boys and girls cross country teams competed at Central Oahu Regional Park on Saturday. The boys varsity race came down to the wire with the 

Raiders winning by 1 point. The boys JV team once again took first place by a wide margin. The Raiders look forward to defending their  tle in next 

week's 20th running of the ʻIolani Cross Country Invita onal at Kualoa Ranch against teams from all over the state and the mainland.Here are the 

results.

Next weekend is the Kualoa Ranch Invita onal that we host and invite schools to par cipate. This year there are 50 schools from Hawaii and the 

mainland. A tradi on that has grown since the Sullivan Center’s opening is for members of the cross country teams to work with faculty member and 

coach Taylor Wong on the trophies and medals.
