From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the

Immaculate Virgin Mary.

STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

18th Sunday in Ordinary Time: “Each day the people are to go out and gather their daily portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they follow my instructions or not.” (Exodus 16:4). When the Israelites gathered more than their daily portion of manna, the surplus became wormy and rotten. In the same way today, God calls us to be content with a fair portion and to be willing to share the rest.

Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Presider……………………. Fr. Tom Schroer, S.M. Assisting............................. Deacon Greg Cecere Liturgy Planners……………Sharon DiLorenzo Music Director……………... Teesie Chandler Interpreter for the Deaf........Brenda Brunette

Exodus 16:2-4, 12-15: Israel struggles to hear God ’s instructions about the manna. They are to gather up only as much as they need for the day, but some gather too much, and some too little. Yet each household discovers that they have as much, and only as much, as they need. God’s wisdom, fidelity and provident love are constant. “Manna in the desert” has become one of the greatest of all religious symbols for God as beneficent provider.

Ephesians 4:17, 20-24: Genuine conversion is a basic expectation placed on all those who have been “buried with Christ” in baptism and have been “raised up” from the cleansing waters to a new mode of existence. The most dramatic change takes place inwardly...we must acquire a fresh, spiritual way of thinking, a daunting challenge. There is great joy in having accepted it.

John 6:24-35: Jesus makes the dramatic assertion that he is the Bread of Life—a clear reference (for us, at least) to the Eucharist, as well as the giving of his body in death so that we might live. For some, this assertion is too much. Indeed, some of Jesus’ own disciples will break away from him over this assertion. It is not difficult to see that Jesus’ claim resulted in a turning point in his ministry.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

CELL PHONES: Out of respect for the liturgy, please turn off all cell phones. Many thanks!

Profession of Faith (Sr. Joan Chittister)

We believe in God who made us all and whose divinity infuses life with the sacred.

We believe in the multiple revelations of God, alive in every human heart, expressed in every culture, found in all the wisdoms of the world.

We believe in Jesus, the Christ, who leads us to the fullness of humanity, to what we are meant to become.

Through Christ, we become new people, called beyond the consequences of our brokenness, lifted to the fullness of life.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the breath of God on earth, who keeps the Christ vision present to souls yet in darkness, gives life to hearts now blind,

infuses energy into spirits yet weary, isolated, searching and confused.

We believe in God who is life. Amen to courage, to hope, to spirit of truth, to nature, to happiness, to wholeness, to the

partnership of women and men in God’s plan, to the Christ who calls us beyond the boundaries of ourselves, to forgiveness, and to everything that stretches our hearts to the

dimensions of God.

In all of this, we can surely believe, as God does. Amen.

DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD!: (From the Archdiocese of Cincinnati) Recently released videos in which officials of Planned Parenthood traffic in human organs, tissues, and body parts from their abortion clinics are chilling and appalling. They display a callous disrespect for human life. Staff from the Family and Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese took part in “Women Betrayed” rally at Planned Parenthood’s Cincinnati clinic on July 28th to protest this outrage. However, we need to do more than raise our voices. I urge Catholics and all people of good will to write to their representatives in state and national government, asking them to stop the flow of your tax dollars to Planned Parenthood. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has supported defunding for many years. Planned Parenthood received more than $1.3 M in state funds from Ohio and $500 M in federal funds in fiscal 2013-14. Please also support a pro-life pregnancy center that helps women in unintended pregnancies, providing many needed services. You can find a list of them at www.catholiccincinnati.org/ministries-offices/family-life/respect-life/pregnancy-coalition-resource-page/. If you have had or participated in an abortion and suffer remorse, please know that the Church’s post-abortion healing ministry, Project Rachel, stands ready to offer compassionate assistance. To learn more about Project Rachel visit www.projectrachelcincy.com.

CHURCH BULLETIN BLOOPERS: PRAYERS & ILLNESSES Due to the rector's illness, Wednesday's healing services will be discontinued until further
