We remember those who have asked for our prayers: Andrea Brushneen, Cheryl Loy, Rita Lenagan, Sharon Williams, Michaele Hercules, John Wood, Leonard Slatter, Sue Hartnett, Jane Conway, Phil Gammond, Mandi Stokes, Theo Montague, Margaret Coleman, Vera Watson, Elizabeth Knight, Patricia Walsh, Janice Hunt, Cecilia Edwards, Veronica Burke, Janet Diaco, Sarah Anderson, Fay Gordon, Kitty Smith, Brendan McGowan, Ben Wilkinson, Jackie Hutt, Marlene Stafford, Steve Prosser, Kitty Daly, John Walsh, Peter Hagan, Frank Kelly, Barbara Kirby, Con McSweeney.

Easter Thank You: Thank you to all who have been involved in the preparation for and celebration of the Easter Triduum, especially our Deacons, Stephen, all musicians and singers; readers and Eucharistic ministers, altar servers, church cleaners and flower arrangers, welcomers, ushers and collectors, all who work in and around the sacristy, church and parish office.

Mission Appeal: Next weekend of April 27th/28th, Sr. Gertrud Dederichs, a Medical Mission Sister, will be making an appeal on behalf of the Missionary Sisters of England and Wales at all masses. Linking her appeal to the Sunday readings, Sr. Gertrud will speak about the work of her congregation in different parts of the world and link this to our common missionary call to bear witness to God’s love in the place where we live.

Maundy Money: We congratulate Liz Robinson on being one of the 186 people from across the country who were nominated to receive the Maundy Money from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle last Thursday (Maundy Thursday).

Chrism Mass: Check out the Clifton Diocesan website later this week to see images from the Chrism Mass in Clifton Cathedral on Wednesday of Holy Week and to listen to Bishop Declan’s inspiring homily.

First Confessions & First Holy Communion: We have 102 children of our parish who have been prepared for their First Confession and First Holy Communion. Do please keep them and their families and cathechists in your prayers. First Confessions take place on Friday April 26th. First Holy Communion is on Saturday May 11th and Saturday May 18th. Please note that on both these Saturdays there will be no 10.00am mass and no morning confessions. First Holy Communion masses will be at 10.30am and 1.00pm both days.

Journey to Full Communion: If you have been baptised in another Christian tradition and have been coming to mass for some time and are interested in being received into Full Communion with the Catholic Church, then speak to Fr Liam. A preparation programme will be organised to take place in the Easter Season.

R.I.P: Please remember in your prayers those who have died recently: Richard O’Connor. Coffin reception Monday April 22nd at 3.00pm. Clifton Diocese- Year of Prayer The joy of Easter is like an explosion of love bursting into our lives. The light of Christ is a light so bright that it transforms our lives. We have journeyed through Lent and through Christ’s passion and death. Now we can rejoice, knowing that his death is not the end. Faith and hope are the great gifts of Easter which we are called to share with one another and with the world. The light we have received is a light for all. It is not for us to keep but to take to the far corners of our society where darkness may prevail amongst the lost and the forsaken. Faith lived amongst the poor and the marginalised is a transforming faith. It is the light for those who live in darkness and despair. Like the disciples we are called to run from the darkness of the tomb and proclaim to the world: Christ is Risen, Alleluia, alleluia!

Next Weekend: Sunday 28th April 2019- 2nd Sunday of Easter (Year C) Acts 5:12-16 Apocalypse 1:9-13. 17-19 John 20:19-31
