Our second collection next weekend is in support of Catholic Education. The donations that you give will help those students and families who are not able to afford the cost of Catholic Education. Catholic education has many benefits that go beyond the academic excellence that is often spoken of by many people. We know that Catholic schools remain the best instrument for the evangelization of our children and families. We know that Catholic schools help our children grow into responsible citi-zens contributing more volunteer and service to the community on average.
It is our goal at St. Lucy and throughout the Diocese of San Jose that each family that wishes their chil-dren to attend a Catholic school have the opportunity to do so and this is what your donation helps to make possible. The reality is, we have a long way to go. Today our families sacrifice greatly to attend our parish school. I with our Prin-ciple Mrs. Sue Grover and the rest of the faculty and staff are grateful and humbled by this gift of love.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY St. Lucy is seeking money counters. This is a very important min-istry that few people know about. The money counting ministry counts all the money received at mass and through the parish office each week and prepares the money for deposit. It generally takes about 2 hours per week. DISCERNMENT DAY: Have you ever wondered what life is like as a nun? Are you drawn to a life of prayer and have a deep desire for love and service? The Dominican Nuns of Corpus Christi Monastery located at 215 Oak Grove Avenue in Menlo Park, CA will host a Discernment Day for single Catholic women ages 18-40 on October 10, 2015. Lawn Replacement Project Update Our recently completed drought tolerant lawn replacement project for the church is already paying us dividends in lower water use! Though the landscape project was not fully completed between the San Jose Water billing period of May 8, 2015 – July 7, 2015, we showed a significant reduction in water use by 120,428 gallons compared to the same period last year. This is great news! We will keep you all posted over the next few months. Keep in mind that our initial water use might have increased since project completion in order to get the newly planted landscaping established. However, once the plantings are well established and begin to mature our water savings should be greater.
Thank you to all of you for patience and contributions in making St. Lucy a model of water savings in our community. We have been recognized by the Santa Clara Valley Water District for our efforts.

Información del Proyecto de Sustitución del Césped
! Nuestro proyecto de sustitución del césped con plantas tolerantes a la sequía nos está proporcionando dividendos con el uso del agua más bajo! Aunque el proyecto de paisaje no estaba totalmente terminado entre el período de facturación del departamento de agua de San José del 8 de mayo, 2015 hasta el 7 de julio, 2015, hubo una reducción significativa en el uso del agua por un total de 120,428 galones en comparación con el mismo período del año pasado. ¡Esta es una gran noticia! Los mantendremos informados los próximos meses. Tenga en cuenta que el uso inicial de agua podría ha-ber aumentado con la finalización del proyecto para obtener establecer las nuevas plantas. Sin embargo, una vez que las plantas están bien establecidos y comienzan a madurar nuestros ahorros de agua deben mejorar.
