48D48 Magnet
Dimensions of the iron:146.5” tall110” wide48” deep
31” gap (3” pole ext.)
Currently Assembled Configuration• Magnet assembled with the iron slabs vertical as shown• Booster coils are installed• Provisions for lifting machined into the top of the slabs and are undocumented on dwg
Front Rear
Coils• Lighter brown coils are the booster set• Darker coils are the primary set• 3” pole extension installed on both sides
Cooling:• Approximated 100 gpm water flow• Typical cooling tower used with unfiltered water• Lower conductivity water used later in magnet’s life• Water may currently remain in the coils• A good flushing was encouraged• Water manifold is available if they can locate it.
Iron from a spare 48D48 magnet
• Does not sound like we will be able to procure this iron for the purposes of using it for a counterweight/base for SoLID magnet. • A set of water manifolds appear to be stored with the spare iron.
Large Steel Plates That Are Available
Two sizes available:• Both sizes are 8.5” thick• 6’ wide x 34’ long – 34 tons• 4’ wide x 24’ long – 24 tons
