As my term as President of NYS Bones and many years serving on the board comes to an
end I look back and see how much this organization has changed. Much like the healthcare
industry has changed. The body of knowledge for today’s Practice Manager is always
expanding just when we think we have it down to a science, a new piece of legislation is
introduced: the way we have coded since the beginning of time is being expanded, labor
laws are transformed, and staff issues get more complicated, just to name a few. Through
all these challenges some things remain the same — we rely on our peers and try to stay
one step ahead. Whether it be here at the conference and networking with the only people
who really understand what each day can bring, through our Lunch and Learn Series that
keeps us up to date on whatever seems to be challenging us that month, or our expansion
of the NYS List Serve knowing that the answer to almost any question is just a click away.
Our board works very hard at staying current and relevant for our members and always
welcomes ideas and suggestions for how we may improve. NYS Bones has many changes in
its future and I am looking forward to seeing what it will become as it continues to grow. New
faces on the board will bring fresh ideas and a different take on these challenges. Long standing
and new vendors are offering more of a glimpse into their services through our Vendor Affiliate
program. The Lunch and Learn Series will continue to add value for our members while not
taking us away from our busy practices. I can’t wait to see what this new board will bring.
Thank you to our members for giving me the opportunity to serve as President of
this organization, it has taught me more than I could have imagined. To the Vendors,
some of which have been supporting NYS Bones since day one and others who are
just joining us, thank you for all you have given this still new but growing organization.
Without you we wouldn’t be able to offer many of the things we are able to provide
our members. A special thank you to Bill Steger whom I have referred to many times as
the “man behind the curtain” who takes all of our ideas and makes them happen.
I hope you all enjoy the 8th Annual Conference
Best,
Megan A. O’Hara
