A Message from the Pastor ~ Un Mensaje del Párroco One of my favorite passages from scripture comes

from St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians, “Though he was in the form of God Jesus did not deem equality with God….Rather, he emptied himself and took the form of a slave being born in the likeness of men….he humbled himself, obediently accepting death, death on a cross.” (Phillippians 2:6-9) The words in this passage help us see that he literally pours himself out as a sacrifice for the good of all, including those who rejected and tortured him. His blood pours out from his side and falls to the earth.

The month of July is dedicated to the Precious blood of Jesus Christ. Have we ever tried to meditate on the blood that was spilled for us? Jesus literally pours himself out on the cross so that you and I can know the fullness of the eternal glory of God. In our modern times our Lord has been

reduced to a “nice guy” who loves everyone and ex-pects nothing from his children. This understanding of Jesus is inaccurate. When we meditate on the blood poured forth by Christ for our salvation we gain insight into who and what we are called to be. We, Disciples of Christ, are called to empty ourselves out just as he did and fill ourselves with the joy of the Gospel. Each day we must abandon ourselves in order to more fully embrace the will of God calling us to empty

ourselves out and to become slaves of Jesus Christ. This act of humility leads to the liberation of others.

This Saturday we celebrated the 4th of July, a hallowed day in our country. On this day we remember the many men and woman who fought and continue to fight tirelessly for our freedoms. May we never take our freedoms or those who fight for them for granted. Therefore, we ask God to bless our beautiful country and we ask him to overcome to powers of evil that seek to destroy our land and our unity as children of God. We ask him to bless and keep those who literally pour themselves out for our good. May God bless America!

Uno de mis pasajes favoritos de las escrituras viene de la carta de San Pablo a los Filipenses. “Cristo, a pesar de su condición divina no hizo alarde de su catergoría de Dios, al contrario, se anonadó a sí mismo, y tomó la condición de esclavo, pasando por un de tantos. Y así, actuando como un hombre cualquiera, se rebajó hasta someterse incluso la muerte y una muerte de cruz.” (Flp 2:6-9) Las palabras en este pasaje nos ayudan a ver que Jesús literalmente se derrama como un sacrifi-cio por el bien de todos, incluidos aquellos que lo rechazaron y lo torturaron. Su sangre brota de su costado y cae a la tierra. El mes de julio está dedicado a la Preciosa Sangre de Jesucristo. ¿Hemos meditado alguna vez en la sangre que se derramó por nosotros? Jesús literalmente se derrama en la cruz para que ustedes y yo podamos conocer la plenitud de la gloria eterna de Dios. En nuestros tiempos modernos, nuestro Señor se ha reducido a un "buen amigo" que ama a todos y no quiere nada de sus hijos. Si pesamos así acerca de Jesús, estamos equivocados. Cuando meditamos en la sangre derramada por Cristo para nuestra salvación, obtenemos información sobre quién y qué estamos llamados a ser. Nosotros, los Discípulos de Cristo, estamos llamados a vaciarnos tal como lo hizo y llenarnos de la alegría del Evangelio. Debemos abandonarnos cada día para abrazar más plenamente la voluntad de Dios que nos llama a vaciarnos y convertirnos en esclavos de Jesucristo. Este acto de humildad conduce a la liberación de los demás. Este sábado celebramos el 4 de julio, un día sagrado en nuestro país. En este día recordamos a los muchos hombres y mujeres que lucharon y continúan luchando incansablemente por nuestras libertades. Que siempre apreciamos nuestras libertades y a quienes luchan por ellas. Por lo tanto, le pedimos a Dios que bendiga a nuestro hermoso país y le pedimos que venza a los poderes del mal que buscan destruir nuestra tierra y nuestra unidad como hijos de Dios. Le pedimos que bendiga y conserve a quienes literalmente se derraman por nuestro bien. ¡Que Dios bendiga a América!

I pray that all are doing well during these difficult months.

All students who attended Religious Education classes this year will return in September to continue classes until the reception of the Sacraments.

All students must re-register. Unless you have a different address or telephone number all your information and documents are here. Only the registration fee needs to be paid, $50 per child - $100 per family. You must also provide a Gmail so that your child can participate in Google classroom and Zoom.

I will be available every Friday and Saturday between 9:00am and 12:00pm noon in the rectory office.

You must re-register to be able to return in September. If you have any ques-tions, please call Friday or Saturday between 9:30am-12pm (718) 542-6164.
