From the Pastor / Del Párroco Queridos feligreses, Las lecturas de las Escrituras durante el Tiempo de la Pascua de la Eucaristía son tan emocionantes. El tercer domingo de la Pascuar, al salir de su escondite, ve- mos los apostoles abrazando el ministe- rio de Jesús. Como Jesús llamó a los dis- cípulos desde sus barcos de pesca, ve- mos a Pedro acordando a los demás dis- cípulos que son "testigos" de todo lo que ha sucedido. ¡¡Testigos!! Este es el mis- mo tipo que había negado a conocer a Jesús y luego se escondió después de la crucifixión. Me pregunto si aceptaríamos el liderazgo de Peter hoy. Quiero decir, él había demostrado que era débil, él había reprobado el examen de liderazgo. El 4o Domingo de Pascua, también conocido como el Domingo del Buen Pastor, celebramos a Jesús como el Buen Pastor. Las ovejas conocen su voz y lo siguen. Lo conocen, confían en él y lo aman. Al escuchar la voz de Jesús, como Pedro, la roca, que seamos testi- gos de su mensaje. Miguel Dear Parishioners, The Scriptural readings during the Ea- son for Eucharist are so exciting. On the third Sunday of Easter, the Apostles come out of hiding, we see them em- bracing the ministry of Jesus. As Jesus called the disciples from their fishing boats, we see Peter reminding the oth- er disciples that they are “witnesses” to all that has happened. Witnesses!! This is the same guy that had denied knowing Jesus then went into hiding after the cruci- fixion. I wonder if we would accept Peter’s leadership today. I mean, he had shown he was weak, he failed the leadership exam. Yet the other 10 disciples listen to him, they are being inspired by him, they see him as the “rock” on which Jesus would build his Church. And so the story continues, “the stone rejected by the builders becomes the cornerstone.” Or in this case, Peter, who rejected the cornerstone, now becomes the “rock” of the Christ’s Church. So, where am I going with this? We have all made mistakes. In one way or another, we have denied Jesus, we have sinned; but Jesus looks beyond that. After reaffirming Peter’s love for him, Jesus seems to say, “now, let’s get back on track.” And we see Pe- ter, taking the lead. After our quarantine, how will we be better witnesses of Jesus? How are we using this time to study the scripture, to meditate or pray more, to read? To become better spouses? Or make our homes more pleasant for those with who we live? We should be using this time wisely, because before we know it, the quarantine will be over and our time to be “witnesses” will be upon us. On the 4th Sunday of Easter, also known as Good Shepherd Sunday, we celebrate Jesus as the Good Shepherd. The sheep know his voice and follow him. They know him, trust him, and love him. As we hear the voice of Jesus, like Peter, the rock, may we be witnesses of his message. We are in dire need of volun-teers at our Food Pantry as well as facemasks. We also need do-nations of gently used clothing, linens, kitchen and household goods. With the closing of our two Mission 27 Resale stores, we also need your financial sup-port. Our drive-through food pantry is helping almost 1,000 families each day and increas-ing rapidly.
Many of us will be receiving a check for $1,200 from the eco-nomic stimulus package recent-ly passed by the Senate. Some of us may not need this mon-ey. Some of us may want to give back to the families we serve. Can you help?

...The grave is the place where no one who enters ever leaves. But Jesus emerged for us; he rose for us, to bring life where there was death, to begin a new story in the very place where a stone had been placed. He, who rolled away the stone that sealed the entrance of the tomb, can also remove the stones in our hearts. So, let us not give in to resignation; let us not place a stone before hope. We can and must hope, because God is faithful. He did not abandon us; he visited us and entered into our situations of pain, anguish and death. His light dispelled the dark-ness of the tomb: today he wants that light to pene-trate even to the darkest corners of our lives. Dear sister, dear brother, even if in your heart you have buried hope, do not give up: God is greater. Dark-ness and death do not have the last word. Be strong, for with God nothing is lost!
Courage. This is a word often spoken by Jesus in the Gospels. Only once do others say it, to encourage a person in need: “Courage; rise, [Jesus] is calling you!” (Mk 10:49). It is he, the Risen One, who raises us up from our neediness. If, on your journey, you feel weak and frail, or fall, do not be afraid, God holds out a helping hand and says to you: “Courage!”….
This is the Easter message, a message of hope. It contains a second part, the sending forth. “Go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee” (Mt 28:10), Jesus says. “He is going before you to Galilee” (v. 7), the angel says. The Lord goes before us; he goes before us always. It is encouraging to know that he walks ahead of us in life and in death; he goes before us to Galilee, that is, to the place which for him and his disciples evoked the idea of daily life, family and work. Jesus wants us to bring hope there, to our everyday life...This is always the point from which we can set out anew, especially in times of crisis and trial, remembering our Galilee.
But there is more. Galilee was the farthest region from where they were: from Jerusalem. And not only geographically. Galilee was also the farthest place from the sacredness of the Holy City. It was an area where people of different religions lived: it was the “Galilee of the Gentiles” (Mt 4:15). Jesus sends them there and asks them to start again from there. What does this tell us? That the message of hope should not be confined to our sacred places, but should be brought to everyone. For everyone is in need of re-assurance, and if we, who have touched “the Word of life” (1 Jn 1:1) do not give it, who will?
...Those women, in the end, “took hold” of Jesus’ feet (Mt 28:9); feet that had travelled so far to meet us, to the point of entering and emerging from the tomb. The women embraced the feet that had tram-pled death and opened the way of hope. Today, as pilgrims in search of hope, we cling to you, Risen Jesus. We turn our backs on death and open our hearts to you, for you are Life itself.

...El sepulcro es el lugar donde quien entra no sale. Pero Jesús salió por nosotros, resucitó por nosotros, para llevar vida donde había muerte, para comenzar una nueva historia que había sido clausurada, tapándola con una piedra. Él, que quitó la roca de la entrada de la tumba, puede
remover las piedras que sellan el corazón. Por eso, no cedamos a la resignación, no depositemos la esperan-za bajo una piedra. Podemos y debemos esperar, porque Dios es fiel, no nos ha dejado solos, nos ha visitado y ha venido en cada situación: en el dolor, en la angustia y en la muerte. Su luz iluminó la oscuridad del sepulcro, y hoy quiere llegar a los rincones más oscuros de la vida. Hermana, hermano, aunque en el corazón hayas sepultado la esperanza, no te rindas: Dios es más grande. La oscuridad y la muerte no tienen la última palabra. Ánimo, con Dios nada está perdido.
Ánimo: es una palabra que, en el Evangelio, está siem-pre en labios de Jesús. Una sola vez la pronuncian ot-ros, para decir a un necesitado: «Ánimo, levántate, que [Jesús] te llama» (Mc 10,49). Es Él, el Resucitado, el que nos levanta a nosotros que estamos necesita-dos. Si en el camino eres débil y frágil, si caes, no te-mas, Dios te tiende la mano y te dice: «Ánimo”...
Este es el anuncio pascual; un anuncio de esperanza que tiene una segunda parte: el envío. «Id a co-municar a mis hermanos que vayan a Gali-lea» (Mt 28,10), dice Jesús. «Va por delante de vo-sotros a Galilea» (v. 7), dice el ángel. El Señor nos pre-cede, nos precede siempre. Es hermoso saber que camina delante de nosotros, que visitó nuestra vida y nuestra muerte para precedernos en Galilea; es decir, el lugar que para Él y para sus discípulos evocaba la vida cotidiana, la familia, el trabajo. Jesús desea que llevemos la esperanza allí, a la vida de cada día…
Pero hay más. Galilea era la región más alejada de Je-rusalén, el lugar donde se encontraban en ese momen-to. Y no sólo geográficamente: Galilea era el sitio más distante de la sacralidad de la Ciudad santa. Era una zona poblada por gentes distintas que practicaban varios cultos, era la «Galilea de los gentiles» (Mt 4,15). Jesús los envió allí, les pidió que comenzaran de nuevo desde allí. ¿Qué nos dice esto? Que el anuncio de la esperanza no se tiene que confinar en nuestros recin-tos sagrados, sino que hay que llevarlo a todos. Porque todos necesitan ser reconfortados y, si no lo hacemos nosotros, que hemos palpado con nuestras manos «el Verbo de la vida» (1 Jn 1,1)…
Al final, las mujeres «abrazaron los pies» de Jesús (Mt 28,9), aquellos pies que habían hecho un largo camino para venir a nuestro encuentro, incluso entran-do y saliendo del sepulcro. Abrazaron los pies que pisaron la muerte y abrieron el camino de la esperan-za. Nosotros, peregrinos en busca de esperanza, hoy nos aferramos a Ti, Jesús Resucitado. Le damos la es-palda a la muerte y te abrimos el corazón a Ti, que eres la Vida.

Stress Release Prayer
My Lord, thank you for making me feel your unconditional love at all times. I want to present to you all of my prob-lems and concerns, which are causing great anxiety and stress in my life. I feel like I can't go on anymore, but I know I can get all the strength I need from your powerful hands. Stress wants to take over my life. I feel heavy anguish com-ing inside of me and my body shakes with nervous fear in the face of such circumstances.
I do not ask you, Lord, to withdraw this test from me, I simply ask you to fill me with the confidence necessary to be able to cross it, that your will be done in my life, for my own good. I admit it is difficult, Lord. Some-times I feel faint, stress overwhelms me and it seems that the solutions are hidden from me. Pain and fear take over my heart and I can feel that I am at a dead end without knowing where to go. The only thing I am sure of is that I can speak to you, Lord of Lord and Physician of doctors, because I know that you hear my prayer. I know that your intention is not that I cross this desert alone, but that I discover the blessings hidden in this situation.
My God, give me the strength to overcome this stress. May I be filled with your peace and feed my heart with all the good that comes from You. Grant me serenity in my thoughts and soul, grant my life peace. Relieve me from stress, anxiety, and anguish. Give me wisdom to know that I do not have to worry about tomorrow, be-cause You will provide me with a solution to the emo-tional, psychological, and spiritual stress that I am ex-periencing at this moment.
Help me to keep my gaze focused on you and on your love that can do everything and heal everything. Thank you, Lord, because I know that you will always stay close to me and rescue me from all my fears, healing my wounds. Fill me with hope and that fire that never goes out. I know your love will always prevail. I ask you this in your Holy Name, through your precious blood poured out for me. You are the Eternal Holy One, all my hope and trust rests in You forever and ev-er. Amen.

Señor mío, gracias por hacerme sen-tir tu amor incondicional en todo mo-mento. Quiero presentarte ahora to-dos mis problemas y preocupaciones, los cuales me están causando una gran ansiedad y estrés en mi vida. Siento que ya no puedo seguir, pero sé que puedo conseguir toda la fuerza que necesito en tus manos poderosas. El estrés quiere apoderarse de mi vi-
da, siento venir pesadas angustias a mi interior y mi cuerpo se sacude de nervios ante tales circunstancias.
No te pido Señor, que retires de mí esta prueba, simple-mente te pido que me llenes de la confianza necesaria para poder atravesarla, que se haga tu voluntad en mi vida, para mi propio bien y el de los míos. Reconozco que es difícil, Señor. A veces siento desfallecer, el es-trés me embarga y parece que las soluciones se me es-conden. El dolor y el miedo se apoderan de mi corazón y me veo como en un callejón sin salida sin saber a dónde dirigirme.
Lo único que estoy seguro es que puedo dirigirme a ti, Señor de Señor y Médico de médicos, porque sé que escuchas mi oración. Sé que tu intención no es que yo atraviese solo este desierto, sino que descubra las ben-diciones escondidas en esta situación. Mi Dios, dame la fuerza para luchar y vencer este estrés. Que pueda llenarme de tu paz y alimentar mi corazón con todo lo bueno que viene de Ti. Serena mis pensamientos, sere-na mi alma, dale paz y mi vida, aleja de mí el estrés, la ansiedad y todas mis angustias.
No tengo que preocuparme por el mañana, porque Tú me proveerás una salida a este estrés emocional psico-lógico y espiritual por el que atravieso. Ayúdame a mantener mi mirada centrada en Ti, en tu amor que todo lo puede y todo lo sana.
Gracias Señor, porque sé que permanecerás siempre cerca y me rescatarás de todos mis miedos, aliviándo-me de mis heridas. Lléname con tu esperanza y ese fue-go que nunca se apaga. Sé que tu amor siempre preva-lecerá. Todo esto te lo pido mi Señor, por tu Santo Nombre, por tu preciosísima sangre. Eres el Santo eterno y toda mi esperanza descansa en Ti. Gracias por escuchar mi humilde oración. Amén.

At this time, the festival committee is meeting through electronic conversations to make plans in the event we cannot hold the festival in June. We will follow the guidelines of the State of Indiana as to when public gatherings will be permitted again. Thanks to all who are continuing your tithes and donations to the parish. Your commitment to the ministries of St. Gabriel’s is so very much appreciat-ed. Your generosity at Easter was overwhelming. Thank you for taking care of your parish home. Know of my gratitude. -Fr.
