ABRASION TESTER (Design SCHOPPER)

This apparatus evaluates and measures resistance to wear and tear on varieties of textile materials (woven and knitted fabrics, etc.) according to DIN 53863, Part 2, GME Standard 60345, GMW Standard 3283 and VW/Audi Zentral-Norm PV 3908.

The ABRASION TESTER described as follows guarantees a testing method that gives the possibility of determining reliably the resistance to wear and tear. This method consists in that the different sectors of a circular sample of the material to be tested, are successively and intermittently, put into contact with and moved across a loaded abrading face, whereby the sample surface is worn by the abrader. The rotary movement of the test specimen is arranged at definite intervals, so that the sample is tested in two directions.

The clamping head allows of clamping reliably even very thick samples and moreover is so arranged that, by using under similar initial tension. This is of essential importance as the test result depends upon the stretch of the sample. For fixing the sample the clamping head can be taken off the machine and inserted into a special ring-spanner which facilitates this operation. The abrader head is balanced by a counter- weight. The compression effect for the abrading operation is produced by placing loading weights on the abrader head. Siliciumcarbid-emery paper has proved to be a very convenient abrasive. For fastening, the strip of emery paper is used for each test in order that the testing conditions may be uniform.
