We are a proud comprehensive High School with a strong P&C and student voice through the SRC and prefects. Our students succeed in a multitude of areas both within the school and in the wider community. We strongly believe in the notion of ‘one years growth for one years learning’ and strive for this as a minimum for all children. We have sound programs in the areas of student resilience and wellbeing. Our staff are experts in their fields, constantly looking to improve student learning. The Albury Project is our latest partnership, which includes: YES, Headspace, CAMHS and all public high schools in Albury. The Albury Project aims to have early intervention strategies for students at risk of homelessness and leaving school early. This research backed Project is a state pilot which we have played a leading role in developing in our community. I would like to thank staff, students, parents and our community for their support of AHS and its endeavours. Gකඍඉග Aඋඐඑඍඞඍඕඍඖගඛ Our students continue to achieve great results as individuals, teams and members of the wider community. Some recent sporting achievements include the AHS Under 15 Girls Soccer team who competed in the Bill Turner Cup. The competition started with 400 schools from an area stretching from Cairns to Melbourne and our girls have made the quarter finals to be played later this month. Thirty five students competed at the Riverina Secondary Athletics Carnival. All students demonstrated excellent behaviour, attitude and effort on the day with many students now continuing to the NSWCHS State Athletics Carnival in September. We also had 18 students representing the Riverina in the NSW All Schools Cross Country in Eastern Creek. Outside sports, some achievements include the F Block Garden Project which has been successful in receiving a $1000 grant from the Life Education Yates Garden Grants program. Only ten grants were selected out of the 987 applications made to the program. The F Block Garden Project aims to establish a micro permaculture garden to allow for the planting of seasonal vegetable, herbs and native plant species with the aim being to sell plants once established. Sixty Year 10 students were involved in planting 2500 trees as part of the establishment of a wildlife connection between Wonga Wetlands and Nail Can Hill. Their plantings replace pine trees that were cleared in this area. This brings the total of trees planted by AHS students in the past three years to approximately 7000. A fantastic effort by the Year 10 students in 2017, 2018 and 2019. ICAS is designed to target students’ higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling and Digital Technologies. S I P : AHS City of Wodonga will be offering vaccinations to Year 10 students at this school on Thursday 22 August. You should have already received Parent Information Kits for the Year 10 Meningococcal ACWY Program that includes an information sheet, consent form and privacy statement. To consent to the vaccination of your child, parents/guardians are asked to complete and sign the consent card in BLUE OR BLACK PEN ONLY and return to the school before the return date listed on the front of the consent pack. Please ensure that your child is wearing a short sleeve shirt on the day of vaccinations (without too many layers underneath), this will enable a smooth vaccination process. Parents/guardians who wish to withdraw their consent for any reason may do so by writing to the school Principal or phoning the school. The Procedure for Withdrawal of Consent is available on the NSW Health website at www.health.nsw.gov.au/immunisation. If you have any enquiries regarding the NSW School immunisation program, please contact your local Public Health Unit on 1300 066 055.

NSWCHS NSW A S C C R Congratulations to the AHS students who represented Riverina SSA at the state championships at Eastern Creek on 26 July. Students at this age run in double ages and their results are released at NSW All Schools, then in their sector, which for our students is CHS. It was great to have so many students who have followed this pathway to the state event. Thank you to the families for supporting their running endeavours.
