T A P The Albury Project will continue at Albury High School this term. This is a way for our school and other schools to work with services to best support our students and their families. Students from years 7 - 12 will participate in the survey on 17 and 18 February during class time. It should take around 20 - 30 minutes to complete the survey. There will be a catch up day for those students who are absent on the day of the survey. A letter was sent home to all students on 3 and 4 February. Letters will also be emailed to all families. If your child is absent, they can collect a letter from their English teacher if in years 9 - 12 or maths teacher if in years 7 and 8. If you have any concerns regarding the survey once you receive the information, can you please contact Carolyn Ratcliffe or Cara Ross on 6021 3488

2020 S P 2020 School planners can be purchased from the school’s office for $11.00.

L F Please label all belongings with the owner’s name. Lost items can then be returned to students. There are already various items in our lost and found, including clothing, drink bottles and reading glasses.

UNSW S E In late January, a group of four Albury High School students (Jen, Chelsea, Billy and Sharni), who are studying Science Extension for the HSC, travelled to the UNSW in Sydney for a special course called SciX, which will assist them with their final report for the subject. Over the course of five days, the students were split into groups, given mentors, and were taught all about Data Collection, Ethics, Interpreting Results and the context of their reports among other things. It was an awesome experience and will contribute greatly to their studies. Thanks to SciX and UNSW for providing this opportunity!

L B R R P L J P Throughout 2020 AHS will be facilitating the Love Bites Respectful Relationships Program and Love Bites Junior Programs throughout guidance classes for students in years 7- 10. Love Bites, developed by NAPCAN, is a respectful relationships program which was created for young people aged 15 to 17 years and will be facilitated with our Year 10 students. The overall aims of the program are to equip young people with the knowledge needed to have respectful relationships, encourage and develop their skills in critical thinking and assist them in being able to problem solve and communicate effectively. Key themes of the program centre on relationship violence and keeping safe, supports available and sexual consent. Love Bites Junior is comprised of three programs which focus on the development of respectful relationships for 11 to 14 year olds and will be facilitated with year 7 - 9 students. The programs are as follows - #Friends (Yr7) which covers themes such as communicating mindfully, warning signs of abusive behaviour, power in relationships, responding to concerns as bystanders, seeking help and rights and responsibilities in relation to sharing images. Respectful Relationships, Bullying and Gender (Yr8) which covers themes such as respect in relationships, gender roles and stereotypes, gender and relationships, jealousy, sexual harassment and homophobia, challenging harassment, discrimination and gender stereotypes and seeking help. Relationships, Love and Control (Yr9) which covers themes such as gender expectations and relationships, responding to jealous feelings, love and control, warning signs of a controlling/abusive relationship, supporting friends, seeking help and breaking up with respect. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these programs, please call Cara Ross, Youth Outreach Worker on 6021 3488.
