Welcome new members and visitors to St Pius X Parish. We hope you feel welcome and will participate in the many activities here whether you are a regu-lar parishioner, a seasonal resident or just visiting. For families with babies, two quieting rooms are available in the nave of the church, toward the back. Large windows allow moth-

ers or fathers to continue to see and participate in Mass, as you sooth the baby by rocking. Childcare is located in the St. Paul Room and is available to babies and young children, at the 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. Sunday Masses. For children 4 to 6 years old, Children’s Church is available at the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Children’s Church allows children to hear the Word of God in a way that their hearts can understand, so that they too can grow in their faith. Please ask a greeter for help in locating these areas, as well as restrooms, water fountains, or other areas of interest in our church. We are so glad you have come!

Are you interested in deepening your faith and finding a community of women to help support you on your faith journey? If so, it is almost time to sign up for the next St. Pius X Women’s ACTS Retreat which will be held February 21-24, 2019. Registration will open on Sunday, November 11th at Noon on our website at https://stpiusxchurch. org/acts-womens-retreat. For more information, call the Parish Office, 232-4656. ACTS is a parish-based retreat in which parishioners serve parishioners. The ACTS Retreat, an acronym

for Adoration, Community, Theology and Service, began in the 1980’s in San Antonio, Texas. The retreat’s goals are to strengthen our faith and its ap-plication in our daily life, to renew ourselves spiritual-ly, to build strong, lasting friendships, and to grow in our relationship with our Lord, our parish and one another. The ACTS weekend is presented by lay Catholic women, with support provided by a Spiritual Director/companion or clergy. Parishioners who serve on ACTS retreats strive to provide the opportunity for our parish community to experience, become, and share the Body of Christ. This year over 70 men and 70 women parishioners have attended St. Pius X Parish ACTS retreats. Now these parishioners will help serve on the upcoming retreat. Please consider this wonderful gift to yourself or someone you love.

Psalm — The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy (Psalm 126). Mass for the Homebound

Every Sunday St. Mary Parish in Lafayette is “streaming” their Sunday 8:00 am Mass. The homebound, as well as residents in assisted living facilities and nursing homes can watch the Mass “live” at 8:00 am on Sundays or watch the video recording of the Mass any time on Sunday or during the rest of the week. Go to www.stmarych.com/live St. Mary is one of the few parishes in our Deanery which can both record a high definition video of the Sunday Mass and show it “live” on their website. Fr. Harold Trahan and his staff are offering this service upon the request of the Dean of the Central Region, Fr. Chester Arceneaux. When celebrating the 8:00 AM Mass Fr. Trahan tries to make those watching on the internet to feel included by speaking directly to them several times during the Mass. He wants those watch-ing on the internet to “feel” that they are attend-ing a Sunday Mass in a Church, rather than a “studio” Mass. Please help pass the word to those who might benefit from this ministry

Reading “Rejoice and Be Glad”

“Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your lives.” These words are used at Mass to send us back out into the world, to glorify the Lord. But how do we do that? How can our little lives add anything to the splendor and majesty of God? Join us on five consecutive Tuesdays to explore Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation “Rejoice and Be Glad: On the Call

to Holiness in Today’s World”. In five chapters, the Holy Father explores ways in which the Lord calls us all to holiness, “each in his or her own way”. Sessions will begin at 6 pm, and last about an hour. Each session will focus on one of the five chapters of the document. No registration is re-quired. Presenter: Fr. Keith LaBove, Pastor St. Patrick Catholic Church, Lafayette 6 p.m Tuesdays: October 30, & Nov. 6, 13, 20 & 27

Fauré Requiem A concert for all those who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection. Performed by the Choir of St. Leo’s and Chamber Orches-tra. Friday, November 2, at 7:00pm. A light reception immediately following in the church hall. St. Leo the Great Church is located at 300 W. Alexander St., Lafayette. Admission is FREE. A free-will offering will be taken to cover the cost of the concert; any profit will be donated to Catholic Charities of Acadiana. If you have any questions, call 232-2404.

Painting with Prayer

Father Bill Melancon will offer Painting with Prayer on Saturday, November 10th, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in the Parish Life Cen-ter from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. The cost of $25 includes all supplies. Please call the parish office at (337) 365-5481 to register if you are planning to attend. 1303 Saint Jude Avenue, New Iberia, 70560

AROUND THE DIOCESE

St. Pius X Catholic Church www.stpiusxchurch.org

Centennial News Sunday, October 28, 2018

A Diocese of All Saints The Churches of the Diocese of Lafayette are under the patronage of a wide array of Saints. The Blessed Mother is the most popular patron of Acadiana Churches with 34 Churches under her patronage through a variety of titles. St. Joseph has 14 Churches under his patronage. Other patrons span the centuries from St. Peter to St. Pius X, and from St. Mary Magdalen to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Only 8 Church parishes do not evoke a Saint in their patronage. Five of those belong to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, while Holy Ghost, Holy Trinity, and Holy Cross round out the eight.

Centennial Mass – All are invited The closing Mass for the Centennial Year of our Diocese will be December 12th at the Cajundome Convention Center at 6pm. Our Diocese and the wonderful people of our diocese and how God has poured forth His Love and guidance upon us in these last 100 Years will be the focus – A Century of Love. Along with the Mass, there will be an Histori-cal Display before and after the Mass as well as a presentation of the many people and cultures of our Diocese. The doors will open at 4:30 because there will be much to be a part of and see. All Catholics throughout our whole Diocese are invited and encouraged to attend.
