From the Director’s Desk

It gives me immense pleasure to release the 3rd Newsletter of Dr.D.YPatil B School

for the month of Oct-Dec 2018. There were lot of activities and vigour seen

among students and staff.

The highlight was that we conducted two conclaves in this period –

Finance Conclave and Global IT Commune. Both the events were

graced by Industry experts and it was of immense practical learning

for the students.

Various events like Blood Donation Camp, Garba Celebration, Students Executive

Development Seminar by Rotary etc were conducted during this duration.

There were series of Guest Lectures from the Corporates, Webinars and short informal sessions

with students to hone their domain dexterity.

There are many more interesting events and projects lined up for our students. I am sure

with the support of all well wishers and God’s grace, we shall deliver what is expected from

us.

Events Highlights

FINANCE CONCLAVE

Finance Conclave on ‘Opportunities and Challenges in Indian Capital Market’ was

organized at Dr. D.Y. Patil B-School on 6th Oct’18. The event had a week-long simulation

game of ‘Mock Share Trading’ in the form of competition and Stock Market Workshop.

The Chief Guest was, Dr. Dr.Mohan Khedkar, ex-vice chancellor, Amravati University. The

other experts were Kiran Jadhav, CNBC Equity Analyst, Anil Jalihal, CFO- Indo Schottle,

Anjan Gupta, VP-Morgan Stanley, Saket Jain, Product Head - ShareKhan BNP, Yogesh

Supekar-Senior Editor, Dalal Street Investment Journal, Anand Bapat, CEO-DampfKolben

Engineering . The Conclave started with welcome address by Dr.Sandip Sane, Director of

the Institute followed by keynote address by Mr. Khedkar, Panel Discussion and ended with

Q&A with Students.

ROTARY EVENT - STUDENTS EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT

SEMINAR

The rotary club event was held on 1st October in the seminar hall. In the event, the rotarites

explained how to develop leadership for professional success. As getting into corporate

sector ,one Should possess high leadership quality to attain great heights regardless of

whether you are already leading others or would like to in the future, part of becoming a

leader is viewing yourself as one first.

INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR

Webinar by an International Guest Speaker, Dr Keith Dinnie was conducted on 9th October

at 2:30pm. Dr. Keith is associated with University of Dundee which is one of the QS Top

Universities and is known as a research focused public university. Dr. Keith has delivered

seminars, conference speeches, presentations and lectures in the US, UK, France, Germany,

Iceland, Portugal, Greece, China, Korea, Malaysia, South Africa and Japan. His research

focuses on the application of strategic brand management techniques within the domains of

tourism promotion, export promotion, inward investment attraction, and public diplomacy.

His research covers the branding of cities and regions as well as nations.

GARBA AND DANDIYA CELEBRATION

An important festival in India, Navratri is incomplete without Dandiya Ras & Garba. To

mark the occasion, Dr. DY Patil Tathawade campus organised a two-day Garba and

Dandiya Celebration on 16-17th Oct’18. The students turned up in huge numbers, dressed

up in traditional attire, for the event, dancing on traditional festive songs.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

The blood donation camp was organised on Wednesday,3rd October, in the seminar hall. It

began at around 10 a.m. and continued up to 5:00 p.m. with a steady stream of donors

throughout the day.It was mainly organised in the memory of late.Shubham Gadge ,

student of MBA. The event saw large number of students who came up to donate their

blood.

WORKSHOP ON SPSS

A workshop on SPSS was conducted by Dr. Niharika Singh on 20th Oct.18. SPSS is short

for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, and it’s used by various kinds of researchers

for complex statistical data analysis. SPSS is used by market researchers, health researchers,

survey companies, government entities, education researchers, marketing organizations,

data miners, and many more for the processing and analysing of survey data.

WORKSHOP ON STOCK MARKET

Mr. Amey Kulkarni is the Founder of Candor Investing and an Investor in Indian Public

Markets following the bottom-up Investing philosophy. He conducted a workshop on Stock

Market for our students on 5th Oc.’18, a day before the Finance Conclave.

FDP ON MICROSOFT EDUCATION TOOLS

To equip our faculties with the latest teaching tools and pedagogies, a FDP was arranged on

Microsoft Education Tools on 4th Dec.’18.

PUNE TIMES FRESH FACE COMPETITION

Pune Times Fresh Face Competition was orgasnised in the DY Patil, Tathawade campus on

6th Dec’18. The event saw talent pool in the form of singing, dancing, mimicry performances

etc by students. Enthusiasm and excitement of the students set the campus vibrating high

with energy. PGDM batch 2017-19 student, Mr. Vivek Shrotriya bagged the runner-up

position.

GLOBAL IT COMMUNE

14th GIC Conference was held at Dr. D.Y Patil B School on 22nd Dec 2018 on "Digital

Transformation: A New normal Business". It was attended by more than 30 IT Company's

representatives. Some of the Diginitories were Dr. Ashok Korwar, Strategic Advisor to

Polaris lab, Dr.Sunil Patil ex SITM Director, Mr. Shubhradeep Nandi, Head Data Scientist,

MSys Tech, Mr. Govind Kulkarni, Director of Good Tech Consulting, GIC Convener Dr.

Shankar Ramamoorthy and many more... Students had great time in listening to stalwarts

of the Industry.
