can be used at once, or separately, according to fancy. There are also tremblant and swell stops, making four stops in all in truth, this is the most complete Portable Harmonium yet brought before the public.

T. CROGER'S firbt-class PATENT COCOA FLUTES for the Middle and Working Classes.

1j CROGER'S NEW PATENT TRANSPOSING , TRELLIS METALLIC HARMONICONS, in

mahogany or rosewood cases. ornamented with trellis-work, and lined with embossed silk; highly finished in every respect.

T. C.'s Metallic Harmonicons are the only instruments that cannot possibly get out of tnne; it is also utterly im-

possible to break the notes. 3 octaves, Io5s.; 24 ditto, 84.s.; 2 ditto, 63s.

Folding transposing ditto, of mahogany, having (when shut) the appearance of a writing-desk. 3 octaves, 50s i 2^

ditto, 4os.; 2 ditto, 30s. The cheapest transposing ones are in best pine cases, polished

amber colour, and ornamented with black and crimson lines. 3 octaves. 40s. 2? ditto, 32s. 2 ditto, 24s.

'W The quality of the tone is the same in any of the above. The instrument being transposing, renders it very instructive and amusing. A very handsome book of instruc- tions is given gratis with each one, showing how to arrange the notes (which are movable) so that tlhe front row can be

put into any key,-enharmonic keys included. For further information and testimonials, see April and May Nos. of this

paper. T. CROGER'S SIX-GUINEA HARMONIUMS, in

French polished oak cases ; or in French polished mahogany ditto, lo per cent. extra. Hitherto there has been a great difficulty in getting satisfactory instruments at the above

prices, butTl.C. begs most respectfully to inform the readers of the Musical Times that they can now be supplied with a first- rate instrument for this sum. He having entered into a con- tract for the supply of notes from the continent, his friends

may rest assured these instruments have the same purity and

power of tone for which the foreign Harmoniums are so celebrated; and as the cabinet portion of the instrument is finished (under his own superintendance) 'by first-class English workmen, it will readily be seen that there must be

great advantages derived by this arrangement, because we then have the best of foreign and English workmanship combined. These instruments have a double blower, and every improve- ment is made in them that the price will possibly admit of.

Any person having a higher-priced Harmonium afterwards, will be allowed nearly the whole of the money back, if the instrument is returned uninjured, and carriage free.

THE NEW PORTABLE HARMONIUM, for Ex- cursionists, &c.. In mahogany and rosewood, price 8 guineas. There have been many attempts made to render the Har- monium portable, and after a very great outlay of capital, time, and labour, the thing has been most satisfactorily ac-

complished. These portable Har-monrums now offered by T. C., when folded up, are in the form of a small box, measuring 2oin. long, loin. wide, and 2zin. deep; they stand, when opened, about 3oin. high. They have two blowers for the feet, the same as the ordinary Harmoniums, and although the compass of the keys is only three octaves, the scale of the instrument can be extended to four octaves, because there are two sets of notes (three octaves each set), one being an octave higher than the other, both of which

May 26th, 1859. Sir,-The eight-keyed flute you sent me has given me great

satistaction, for I consider its tone, as also its finish, to be very good; at the same time, the price is very moderate.

Yours obediently, P. H. HARCOURT, Bedford. B. Y. Artillery.
