FIRST CHURCH BIDS FAREWELL TO LAURA PAINCHAUD Project Transformation Snacks Needed We only have two weeks of Project Transformation leſt! As we continue to serve our community through this summer literacy camp, we’re in need of more daily snacks for campers. Every summer, over 2,000 snacks are served to campers. Our snack wish list includes: • Cheese crackers • Whole grain crackers Goldfish crackers Granola bars (no nuts, please!) • Animal crackers • Teddy grahams • Gummy fruit snacks • Go-Gurt yogurt Donated snacks may be placed in the kitchen or at Laura's desk. In August, First Church will regrettably bid farewell to Laura Painchaud, Director of Children’s and Family Ministries. Laura will be moving to Georgetown, Texas where her husband Austin has accepted a position with Southwestern University, the oldest university in Texas and Auatin and Laura’s alma mater. During Laura’s nearly five years with First Church, children’s ministries have grown. As an example, while Laura has been here, Sunday morning children’s attendance has approximately doubled. At least partly, this is a result of new and innovative programming that attracts children and their families. As one of the many innovative programs begun under Laura’s direction, First Church established camps for times when children are out of school. Fall and Spring Break camps brought children into the building for Christian based day programs. They were so successful that the concept was expanded in 2016 to an eight week Kanisa camp for children who did not qualify for Project Transformation. ALL CHURCH POTLUCK Fellowship and Family Life Committee is hosting a church potluck this Sunday, July 16 following the 11:10 service. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided. Those with last names beginning with A through M are asked to please bring a side dish to share and those with last names beginning N through Z are asked to please bring a dessert to share. Bring a lawn chair and come enjoy lunch with your First Church family! Laura’s tenure brought canoeing on our very own lake. Canoeing came to our lake during Kanisa and Project Transformation summer camps in 2016. Aſter a pioneering Canoe Easter Egg Hunt, families enjoyed the opportunity to canoe on the lake. Family canoe opportunities have continued this summer. First Church will miss Laura’s bright smiling face, her unbounded enthusiasm, and her limitless love for children and ministry to them. Our thoughts, prayers, blessing, and best wishes go with her as she moves to this next stage in her life.

Since January 2013, our church has been blessed by having Laura Painchaud as our Director of Children’s Ministries. When she came to us she was newly graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and was still Laura Wooden. Since then, she and Austin Painchaud married and we have been the happy recipients of their presence, friendship, and ministry among us.

Now, Austin has been lured back to their alma mater to become Associate Director of Annual Giving for the university, and Laura will be leaving our employ effective August 10. We thank them for

all they have meant to us, and send them forth with best wishes, confident that God will use them in their new setting.

It's difficult to say goodbye to those we love, but we are reminded that we are all still one in Christ. We are happy for Laura’s successor (whomever that may be). That they will be taking over a children’s ministry that has been made strong, well-run, and faithful in forming young disciples of Jesus Christ.

Laura and Austin, we love you and thank God you came our way!Kevin Tully
