How Vehicles andPatrons Access Your Building

Page 2: BUILDING CUSTOMIZATIONS

BUILDING ACCESSWalk DoorsAre, most commonly 3070 (3’ wide and 7’tall) and intended for owner or customeraccess. These doors come with a framedopening that can be field located, meaning you can choose where you wantthe door to be as you erect your building.

BUILDING ACCESSStructural Framed OpeningsYou can opt to purchase a framed openingwithout a door to provide access to thebuilding. Obviously this does not provideany security, but if your building is goingto operate more like a carport this may bea good choice for your project.

BUILDING ACCESSSectional DoorsSame as a residential garage door and areoften 8’ wide x 8’ tall or or 16’ wide by 8’tall but can be larger or smaller than thosepopular sizes. These doors can bemanually operated or come with anelectric opener.

BUILDING ACCESSRoll Up DoorsThese doors retreat into a large canisterabove the framed opening. Are a goodchoice for small vehicle access like amotorcycle, ATV or lawn tractor but dorequire the building to be taller than abuildings with sectional doors.

BUILDING ACCESSBi-Fold DoorsAre most often used for aircraft hangarsbecause these doors can be much widerthan a sectional door to accommodate theairplane’s wing span.

BUILDING ACCESSSliding (Stack) DoorsSliding doors stack inside the building andare usually less expensive than a bi-folddoor. Sliding doors can provide the samelevel of access as a bi-fold door but do notoffer the traditional look of an aircrafthangar.

BUILDING ACCESSBarn DoorsThese doors are regularly seen on farmbuildings and barndominiums. They aresimilar to an aircraft hangar’s sliding doorsexcept these doors slide out and over theexterior of the building rather thanstacking into the interior.

BUILDING ACCESSGlass Storefront DoorsUsed for entrances to retail buildings, office buildings and churches, these doorsoffer not only natural light but a moretraditional entrance to these spaces. Glassstorefront doors are available in both3070 and 6070.

Ways to Improve AirCirculation andVentilation

Page 5: BUILDING CUSTOMIZATIONS

VENTILATIONWindowsAvailable in both horizontal and verticalslide operation and sizes from 3030 up to6040, these accessories deliver bothnatural light and the ability to crossventilate your building.

VENTILATIONLouversAre inserted into the wall panels andfeature not only a vent but also a fan totransfer fumes outside the building.

VENTILATIONRidge Vent with DamperThis vent is installed along the ridge of theroof to provide a way for rising fumes andexhaust to leave the building. This type ofventilation differs from a louver because itis manually opened using a chain and doesnot rely on a fan to push the air frominside to the outside.

VENTILATIONCupolasAre most commonly found on agriculturalbuildings because they deliver a traditionalbarn look. These small complements to theroof line can be outfitted with louvers toprovide ridge line ventilation.

Increasing Natural LightThroughout YourBuilding

NATURAL LIGHTWall LightsAre also referred to as light transmittingpanels. These wall panels are equallystrong as standard 26 gauge sheeting butallow some filtered natural light to passthrough the building’s perimeter.

NATURAL LIGHTSkylightsInstalled in the roof of the building, theseclear openings offer an alternative toelectrical overhead lighting. Skylights arealways fixed, so if you are looking for roofventilation, we suggest adding a ridgevent in addition to the skylights.

NATURAL LIGHTFixed WindowsYield unfiltered natural light horizontallyacross the building’s interior. Fixedwindows start at 3030 but opposed to thehorizontal or vertical slide windows, theseopenings offer different shapes such as a2070 or 1070.

NATURAL LIGHTCupolasCan feature fixed windows below theaccessory’s 7:12 roof pitch. The lightprovided by these small windows is oftenmore aesthetic than functional since thelight will not penetrate the building’sinterior in a wide manner.

Preventing Accumulation of Water and Moisture

Page 9: BUILDING CUSTOMIZATIONS

MOISTURE & WATER MITIGATIONGutters and DownspoutsGutters run parallel to the building’sroofline and connect to your choice of 10’to 28’ downspouts. As the roof of yourbuilding sheds water, this system carriesthe moisture away from the building’sfoundation, framing and connections.

MOISTURE & WATER MITIGATIONRoof PitchCan be as low as .25:12 to as steep as 6:12and play both an aesthetic as well asfunctional purpose. A 1:12 roof can beengineered to endure the same snow loadas a 6:12, the steeper roof does naturallyshed snow easier than the lower pitch.

MOISTURE & WATER MITIGATIONBolt on CanopiesThese small overhangs provide coverageover walk doors which can keep the metalcomponents cool in warm weather andalso keep snow from accumulating next tothe entrance during the winter.

MOISTURE & WATER MITIGATIONInsulationPrevents the condensation that is createdwhen warm air from inside your steelbuilding comes into contact with a coldsurface such as your roof or wall panels. It's important to note, spray foam is notrecommended for metal buildings.

MOISTURE & WATER MITIGATIONInsulated PanelsAttach to your building in the same way asthe standard 26 gauge sheeting butinsulated panels provide a higher R-Valuewith the insulation manufactured intoeach piece of sheeting.

MOISTURE & WATER MITIGATIONMaster FlashProvides an insulated and weather tightspace for you to pass electrical wires, pipes, electrical service entrances andmore through the walls and roof of thebuilding.

INSULATION OPTIONSWeather StrippingWeather stripping is available for all walkdoor sizes and is highly recommended toensure an air tight connection betweenyour doors and the framing.

INSULATION OPTIONSGenStoneCan be installed on the walls inside oraround the exterior of your building. Boththe stacked stone and brick panels deliveran average R-Value of 3.6 per inch.

INSULATION OPTIONSInsulated PanelsOffer a minimum insulation rating of R-16up to R-49. These panels can mimic thelook of the standard sheeting or be pre-treated with stucco.

Page 13: BUILDING CUSTOMIZATIONS

INSULATION OPTIONSInsulated DoorsEntrances to the building can allowsignificant amounts of warm or cold air toboth penetrate or escape the building. Allwalk doors, sectional doors and roll updoors can be purchased as insulated.
