Parents and students and community members are invited to a workshop to support the development of our next project for the school to develop up the back. Date: Friday 20 September 2.00 – 4.00pm Discussions with student groups have identified a range of ideas and now along with parents, we can begin to bring the planning components together. If you are interested in: gardening to supply foods for the canteen and Market BBQ, or building a cubbyhouse and outdoor learning area etc. then this is it! Please come along and share your expertise with us.

Thank you to Ms Watchirs, Mrs Moore, Jenny, Megan and Susan for their support of the excursion to the Eden Whale Museum this week. The children were so excited and represented their school beautifully on the excursion. Congratulations to Ruby Heffernan for her focus and independence while creating an outstanding narrative for a writing competition. Eclipse is a deep thought provoking piece of writing that demonstrates Ruby’s outstanding ability to paint vivid descriptive prose with engaging vocabulary.

Please come along with your families to enjoy the grounds, basketball court, the open space and the play equipment. The spaces will be cleaned regularly, and there are security services in place to keep the grounds in good shape. To find out details and a school near you go to the Share Our Space webpage here. Have Your Say on Before and After School Care The NSW Government is committed to providing before and after school care to all students of public primary schools in New South Wales. As part of the reform, a parent web form has been established by Service NSW that will enable parents to tell the department about their specific care needs and to stay up to date with any new developments.

The information provided by parents will help the Department of Education to understand your needs, give them insights into where there are gaps in service delivery and help to ensure the extra places are delivered where they are required. Have you say today at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/basc

P&C News

Cricket: Some great results for the boys and girls from Stage 2 & 3 who travelled to Bega for the Woolworth Cricket Blast School Cup. Thank you to Mrs Johnson, Clinton and Jenny for supporting the program. School Parliament A focus on friendship and the ups and downs that relationships can bring has been a lunch time and class time focus for the children. A very special movie was made and shared with all of the children to help them to understand what friendship fires look like and how to deal with the upset that friendships sometimes bring. Thank you to Jenny who plays a major role in lunch time counselling sessions providing valuable one to one support for many children. Year 6 will be organizing lunch time indoor bowls play offs in the coming weeks. Canteen this Friday: Children should bring a bowl and fork as well as their money to buy food from our Healthy Canteen!!

SPORT

Gymnastics is our Term 3 Sporting Schools activity. An excursion to Pambula to visit the Eden Area Gymnastics Centre will occur on Thursday 26 September.

Premiers Sporting Challenge reminds every child to be active and have a healthy life style. Every child is encouraged to spend their recess and lunch times being active and to participate in before and after school activities such as bike riding, training for sport teams or walking the dog. Active kids are healthy kids!

PERFORMING ARTS CIP Wind program lessons take place each Wednesday during school time, please apply to Susan Gray and Helen Gill regarding this program of individual and small group tuition. Class 1R:

1R and 2M had such a wonderful time at the Eden Whale Museum! We learned all about Old Tom, whaling and walked through interesting galleries. The guides at the museum were fabulous and engaged the children with their stories. All the children were so respectful at the museum so we are very proud. Book Week celebration is next week on Wednesday, we do need a few more parent helpers to help with serving food. Please note there will not be a BBQ, we will have finger food and sweets thanks to everyone's terrific support! The past fortnight we have been working on our creative writing based on a cartoon picture we saw of a witch and a little black cat, below are snippets of Elsa and Antony's creative stories!

Once upon a time there was an evil witch, she sneaked into the pet shop to steal a cat! It was very

dark and spooky and no one was there. The cats were sleeping and the cat that was awake jumped onto the glass window. "Quiet" said the witch very quietly and swooped away with the black cat. The black cat liked the witch and the witch liked the cat. They were playing together when another witch came and stole the black cat. She zoomed away with the black cat. The cat missed the other witch but the cat got used to the witch but she still wished that she could see the other witch but when the witch was asleep she stole the cat. They were happy together again but the other witch was jealous. After a little time the witches became friends again because all along they were friends... Elsa, Year 1 The witch will take all of the cats and make all of the cats evil and ruin the world. "Purr" said the cat as the witches zoom out of the room and all of the cats ran after the witches. The witch was out of the room like a zoom. Antony, Year 1 Awards This Week: Maggie and Jackson: Working well with making a sentence Elsa and Peyton T: Fantastic attitude on the Eden Whale Museum excursion Class 2M:

This week 2M went to the Eden Whale Museum with 1R. We had such a lovely day, the children were beautifully behaved, as the volunteers at the Museum took us on a guided tour. The stories we were told were fascinating and the displays were interactive and very interesting. The day we went was the anniversary of Old Tom's death, the famous

killer whale that inspired the creation of the museum. The sun came out so we could eat our lunch and play at Memorial Park before heading back to school. The children have started planning a recount of the day. They learnt so much and I've been very impressed with their ability to remember the details of the displays they saw and stories they heard! Awards This Week: Jack: Excellent sportsmanship Clancy: Fantastic leadership skills Hayley: Working hard in all areas Ivy: Excellent manners at the Whale Museum Class 3BJ:

Everyone has settled back in to work nicely after the excitement of the Canberra excursion.

With only one week of school left till the end of term we are focussing on finalising Term 3 programs.

In Science we completed work on forces, electricity, power production and where we may source power in the future.

We did revision in Maths, revisiting angles and using protractors to measure and label angles.

We look forward to the Book Fair and character parade next week. Thank you parents for assisting your child with their costume.

Congratulations to our Regional Athletic representatives you have all done an amazing job! Thank you also to parents for transporting children to Canberra for this event. Awards This Week: Sportsmanship: Eamon, Hayden, Lance and Jshua Writing Ruby H
