Features

Material is fed by gravity or pneumatically into the feed inlet and redirected into the cylindricalsifting chamber by means of a feed screw. Rotating, helical paddles within the chamber continuouslypropel the material against the screen, while the resultant centrifugal force on the particlesaccelerates them through the apertures. Theserotating paddles, which never make contact with the screen, also serve to breakup softagglomerates. Oversize particles and trash are ejected via the oversize discharge spout.

Rubber wiper blades handle fibrousmaterial that would otherwisebecome entangled in brush bristlesor wrap around serrated edges.Rubber blades allow oversize particles to pass by the rotatingblade, and are also effective in liquid/solids separations.

Integral air brushes keep screensclean when processing with finemeshes that would be susceptibleto damage or abrasion by mechan-ical anti-blinding devices. Air entersat the end of the hollow drive shaftand exits through multiple air nozzles, blowing the screen clean.

Brushes are flexible, and main-tained approximately 1/16 to 1/8inch (1.6 to 3.2 mm) away from the screen surface to prevent damage, while allowing desiredparticles to pass easily through the screen openings .

CENTRI-SIFTER™ centrifugal screeners are highlyeffective at sifting, scalping, de-agglomeratingand dewatering of granular materials rangingfrom dry bulk solids to solids-laden slurries, including moist materials that tend to ball or agglomerate. These screeners are widely used in the chemical, food, dairy, pharma-ceutical, plastic, mineral and packaging industries—virtually any field in which bulk solid materials are handled. Kason offers abroad range of models, sizes, configurationsand accessories to screen your particular material with unsurpassed efficiency anddependability, at the rate you require, on abatch or continuous basis. Whether you are sifting 50 lb/h (23 kg/hr) batches of contamina-tion-sensitive pharmaceutical products, scalping 80 tons/h of sugar, or dewatering 400 gal/m (1800 litres/m) of paper fiber, Kasonoffers a CENTRI-SIFTER centrifugal screener to maximize the quality of your process whileminimizing cost.

Anti-blinding devices speed production, reduce maintenanceKason offers a variety of devices that increase production by combating screen blinding. Thesedevices reduce the clearance between the rotating paddle and the cylindrical screen without con-tacting or abrading the screen. Narrowing the gap between the rotating element and the screensurface enhances screening rates under near size conditions, thereby increasing throughput.

Broad model range solves specialized problems

CENTRI-SIFTER centrifugal sifters are designedfor gravity-fed applications and for sifting in-linewith pneumatic conveying systems. They areavailable as single and twin models and low profile units, and offered in a broad range ofstandard, modified and custom configurations. All are available with belt drive or direct drive.Units may be free-standing or adapted for easy mounting on new or existing processequipment.

CENTRI-SIFTER separators meet the most stringent worldwide sanitary standards includ-ing FDA, 3-A, and BISSC. Special finishes and materials also make these sifters suitable for biochemical and pharmaceutical applications.

Screen optionsThe choice of separating media includes nylonand other mono-filament cloth, woven wire inselected metals, perforated plate screen, andwedge wire. Wedge wire screens are preferredwhen sifting large, dense particles with angularshapes, oversize lumps or when contaminatingdebris must be prevented from entering pro-cessing streams. Kason’s wedge wire screens are rugged and provide a high degree of on-stream reliability.

QUICK-CLEAN Centrifugal Screenerswith Cantilevered Shafts

Rapid removal of internalcomponents with no sacrificein performance

QUICK-CLEAN CENTRI-SIFTER centrifugalscreeners feature cantilevered shafts that allow quick, tool-free removal of internalcomponents through a hinged end cover, forrapid cleaning, screen changes and inspection.

Two-bearing models are configured with one motor-end bearing, and one inboardbearing located exterior of the material infeedchute (no bearing required on end cover).

Three-bearing models additionally have a thirdbearing located on the hinged cover at thedischarge end of the screener, providingmaximum support to handle the heaviest loads and highest capacities.

All Kason QUICK-CLEAN screeners areconstructed of stainless steel with optionalsanitary finishes suitable for pharmaceutical, food and dairy applications, as well as industrialapplications involving frequent screen changes, inspections or runs of multiple materials withno cross contamination.

Two-bearing models of QUICK-CLEANCENTRI-SIFTER™ centrifugal screenersrequire no bearing on hinged endcover (shown opened, above).

The hinged end cover is opened using quick-disconnect clamps, allowing the retaining plate, screen and paddleassembly to slide freely from the cantilevered shaft. Note: Two-bearing model shown requires no bearing on end cover.

Three-bearing models support shaft endsIn addition to a motor-end bearing and aninboard bearing, three-bearing modelsposition a bearing on the exterior of thehinged cover at the discharge end of thescreener, providing maximum support forthe highest capacities and heaviest loads. When the end cover is opened, the bearingslides off of the shaft, which cantilevers onthe inboard bearing, allowing rapid removalof internal components.

Large diameter shaft and wide spacing betweenbearings enable two-bearing models to operate athigh speeds, free of vibration.

Two-bearing designs utilize one motor-end bearing, and one inboard bearing adjacent to the materialinfeed chute (no bearing on end cover).

In addition to one motor-end bearing and oneinboard bearing adjacent to the material infeedchute, three-bearing designs incorporate a bearingon the exterior of a hinged cover at the dischargeend of the screener.

Extracts more moisture than conventional screeners while boosting capacityAn incline adjustable up to 40° increasesthe dwell time of material within the cham-ber and the drainage rate of free liquid, while causing moisture to remain near thedownhill inlet of the cylindrical screen, resulting in greater dryness of dischargedsolids. A full length, low-pitched internalauger feeds high loadings of material intothe screen cylinder as rotating paddlesimpart centrifugal force.

Screens small batches of contamination-sensitive productsMiniature centrifugal screener scalps, de-agglomerates and dewaters smallbatches of pharmaceutical powders, powder coatings, food products, and othercontamination-sensitive products. In lessthan one minute, with no tools, the unit’send plate, cylindrical screen and shaft-mounted paddle assembly can beremoved, providing access to sanitize all material contact surfaces. Available to FDA, 3A, BISSC and other standards.

Removes oversize contaminantswhile protecting against dustAn integral dust collector protects againstdust contamination while the CENTRI-SIFTERscreener removes bag scraps and otheroversize contaminants from manuallydumped bulk materials. Short blasts of air inside filters dislodge the build up of material, which falls into screener.Configured for mezzanine installation, the system gravity-discharges into processequipment, and affords a sufficiently lowdeck height for sack and container handling.

Screens in-line with pneumatic conveying systems at high ratesPNEUMATI-SIFTER screeners de-agglomerateand sift materials in-line with dilute-phasepneumatic conveying systems, eliminatingthe need for cyclone separators and rotaryair lock valves. These high capacity unitspropel on-size particles through apertures ina cylindrical screen, while oversize particlesare ejected through a manual or automaticvalve into a sealed, quick-release receptacle.Positive pressures to 14.9 psig (1 barg),negative pressures to 14 in. (356 mm).
