FEBRUARY 2020SUNDAY 16 – Sixth Sunday In Ordinary TimeMt 5, 17-37 (76)
The Commandments of God are not chains or ropes that limit our actions. If you see the Laws of God asways of manipulating your freedom, you have not known the True God and His Living Word. TheCommandments are laws of Love, and, therefore, they are rather exact limits that mark where the good ofthe human being ends and the evil of the world begins. They would be the Commandments as fences soas not to fall into misery.
Fulfilling the Commandments is cause for joy and commitment. The truly happy man is the one who fulfillsthem knowing that God put them to be holy. But we must fulfill them not because they are written, becausethat is how they kill; but to fulfill them, as our Lord Jesus Christ commands, understanding the Spirit withwhich they were written, that Spirit that comes from God and is the same God.
Allow us, Lord, to love you as you love yourself and how you love us. Teach us, Lord, to fulfill your manda-tes and to love that fulfillment. Teach us to always choose life over death. Make us happy, inspire love foryou. And give us the strength to accomplish what you put as longing in us, and also strength to makeothers want to fulfill it too.

Los Mandamientos de Dios no son cadenas o sogas que limitan nuestro actuar. Si ves las Leyes de Dioscomo maneras de manipular tu libertad, no has conocido al Verdadero Dios y Su Palabra Viva. LosMandamientos son leyes de Amor, y, por tanto, son más bien límites exactísimos que marcan dónde termi-na lo bueno del ser humano y empieza la maldad del mundo. Serían los Mandamientos como cercas parano caer en la desdicha.
Cumplir los Mandamientos es motivo de alegría y de empeño. El hombre verdaderamente feliz es el que loscumple a sabiendas de que Dios los puso para que seamos santos. Pero debemos cumplirlos no porqueestán escritos, porque así matan; sino cumplirlos, como manda nuestro Señor Jesucristo, entendiendo elEspíritu con que fueron escritos, ese Espíritu que procede de Dios y que es el mismo Dios.
Permítenos, Señor, amarte como te amas Tú mismo y como nos amas a nosotros. Enséñanos, Señor, acumplir tus mandatos y a amar ese cumplimiento. Enséñanos a elegir siempre la vida por encima de lamuerte. Haznos dichosos, inspíranos el Amor hacia Ti. Y danos la fuerza para cumplir eso que pones comoanhelo en nosotros, y también fuerza para hacer que otros quieran también cumplirlo.

As believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to a new life and are asked to make moral choices that keep us unitedwith God. With the help and grace of the Holy Spirit, we can choose ways to act to keep us close to God, to helpother people, and to be witnesses to Jesus.
The Ten Commandments guide us in making choices that help us to live as God wants us to live. The first threecommandments tell us how to love God; the other seven tell us how to love our neighbor.
1. I am the Lord your God: you shall not have strange gods before me.2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's Day. 4. Honor your father and your mother. 5. You shall not kill. 6. You shall not commit adultery. 7. You shall not steal.8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.10. You shall not covet your neighbor's goods.
The Great CommandmentA man asked Jesus which of the commandments is most important. Jesus answered: “The first is this...‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all
your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other command-ment greater than these.” - Mark 12: 28-31

Trip to Europe - The Administration of Church of St Jude is organizing a trip to Europe for next year fromJuly 31st through August 11 for eleven days. We will be visiting five countries and six cities. The amount of$3,625.00 includes flight, all transportation between cities, hotel, breakfast and dinner. Offering Boxes of Envelopes for 2020 - We still have 95 boxes of envelopes pending for distribution. Youmay come to the rectory during office hours Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturdayfrom 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Sundays the rectory is closed.
The Cardinal’s Annual Appeal - As you all know The Cardinal’s Annual Appeal for 2020 started. Ourassigned Parish goal this year is $31,000.
