Term 2, Week 8 Thursday 21st June, 2018
Welcome to the Clairgate Chronicle for Week 6,
Term 2, 2018.
It is lovely to see settled and engaged classrooms as I
walk around the school. The teachers are busy
evaluating and assessing student’s work, and then
writing student reports. These mid-year reports will be
sent home in the last week of school this term.
I have also been happy to see children picking up
rubbish without being asked to do so…a wonderful
example of showing pride in our school.
Extraordinary Debaters
On Tuesday, 19th June, our school’s Debating Team
attended a workshop at school with all the STEPS
primary schools. It was a very successful and
worthwhile experience for the students, who behaved
in an exemplary manner and were excellent hosts for
our school. The children learnt new information and
skills and were involved in some short “mock” debates
with the students from other STEPS schools. A big
thank you to Mr Wilkinson for the organisation and
his excellent coaching skills.
Pavers
Don’t forget to put your order form in for your special
Clairgate Paver – a lasting memory. There are some
very creative ideas coming through – you may like to
look at some of these on the school Facebook page.
The orders need to be in by the end of next week.
Just some Reminders…
No glass drink bottles allowed at school please…this is a big safety issue for us!
No picking up or dropping off children in the Staff Car Park without permission – certainly those with a disabled permit are allowed to do this.
Please ensure your child has on a jumper or jacket in the mornings during winter. If you wish your child to be exempt from this rule please send me a letter regarding this.
DISCO – next Wednesday afternoon – 4.00 - 5.30pm for K-2, and 5.30 – 7.00pm for Years 3-6. Huge thanks to Mrs Thurling for her KINDNESS in organising this!
Thanks everyone, hope you have a great fortnight.
Regards,
Mrs Michelle Lawrow
Principal

What’s On at Penrith Observatory in June?
From Darkness to Light: Star Birth in the Milky Way - 23rdJune
Speaker – Dr Nick Tothill
Stars like our sun are still being formed all around us in our Galaxy, although they're
sometimes hard to see. Some of them are going to be like our own Sun, some of them will
be smaller, and some will be much, much bigger. I'll talk about new stars and the places we
can see them, and what this means for our understanding of our Sun and our place in the
Galaxy.
Includes presentation, short 3D movie, tour of the dome and viewing of the night sky
through a range of telescopes (weather permitting).
