Term 2, Week 10 Wednesday, 28th June 2017
Welcome to the last Clairgate Chronicle for Term 2
(28/06/17). This has been a busy and successful term
with our school successfully participating in lots of
sporting, curriculum and social events. I would like to
sincerely thank all our wonderful students, teachers,
office ladies, parents, teacher aides, canteen helpers,
P&C members, cleaners, clothing pool helpers and
Toddler Group helpers who support our amazing
school by:
learning, participating, sharing, caring, being resilient,
planning, organising, teaching, assessing, reporting,
meeting, coaching, running courses and activities,
buying, cooking, sewing, cleaning, nursing, budgeting,
transporting, fixing things, financially supporting,
working “behind the scenes”, helping out ‘on the day’,
generously giving of their time and energy….the list
goes on.
Well done to our students who have demonstrated
Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Care – so many
students have received their silver horseshoe (98% of
children!) – we are celebrating this wonderful
Clairgate behaviour on Friday.

Congratulations to all our students who participated
in this great day’s activities – and huge thanks to Mrs

Police visit to Clairgate
Unfortunately last fortnight we had a small break in at
the school – this occurred during the weekend – most
probably around 2.00am Sunday morning. This
involved several classrooms but fortunately there was
no damage to these rooms. The wonderful St Marys
Police came to investigate and we also had a forensic
officer to take fingerprints of several items. A few
small items were taken and the police have the details

Excursion Brewongle
The excursion to the Brewongle Environmental Education Centre was linked to the work
for Geography taught to Stage 2 in Term 2. The name of the unit is, Places are Similar
and Different. At the Brewongle Environmental Education Centre, the students
compared the similarities and differences of the sites found there. They also
participated in various activities to learn about geographical concepts, skills and tools.
Thank You,
Mrs Tegjeu

On Wednesday 21st of June Year 3 both went to Brewongle for their excursion.
Firstly, on Wednesday morning when we came to school and the first thing we did was
go to the hard court and line up in our class lines and mark the roll. Then we got onto
the bus. My partner was Alexis. It took an hour and a half to get there.
Secondly, we had to walk down a trail to get to the place. When we got there we put
our bags on the table and spoke about what we were going to do.
Thirdly, we got onto our first activity and I was sketching the Brewongle Nepean River.
The next activity was going bush walking and writing all the plants names down.
Finally, we got onto our last activity and it was looking at the temperature and using the
mirror to see how much sun was coming through the trees. After that we had our lunch.
We got on the bus to get back to school again.
My favourite part of the day was sketching the river.

Brewongle Excursion
On the way to Brewongle we played Spotto. We had to find yellow cars. I found 20.
The horse hunt was 109. On the bus I made a new friend.
In Brewongle we saw a humongous river with a lot of mud. The whole river was muddy
from all of the rain. We did three activities with a Brewongle teacher and a Clairgate
teacher. We learnt about North South East and West. The river was in the North.

At Brewongle we had heaps of fun and this is what we did first. Firstly, we lined up at
the hard court and only one person was away. Secondly, we got on the bus and I sat
next to Eloise. We talked about what we thought it would be like. We thought it would
be nice and quiet.
Thirdly, we arrived at Brewongle. We walked through a nice shady bush to get to the
meeting area. When we got there we talked about the rules and everyone promised to
do the right thing.
The first activity I did was drawing a line picture of what we saw. Then we got to use
compasses and look at the map to find North, South, East and West.
Next we went for a bush walk and we got to look at some different types of leaves. We
also got to feel possum fur!
After that we got to see the temperature, how much light and we looked at the density
of the ridge top and the gully.
I had fun at Brewongle. My favourite part was the bush walk.

3T’s Excursion to Brewongle Environmental Education Centre
Last Wednesday 21st June, I saw lots of horses and dogs on the way there. I talked to
my friends and I had fun.
When we got there, we split up into three groups. We looked at types of gear to see
the temperature and measure sunlight.
After the first activity we had recess. In the second activity we learnt about North
South East and West. In the third activity we looked at things you can find in the
bush.
In the booklet, we drew a sketch from the top of the hill. Then we had the first letter
and had to solve it by looking at information slips.

3T’s Excursion to Brewongle Environmental Education Centre
On the bus drive to Brewongle it was really fun and my partner was Janina but we had
to sit at the front as we sometimes get car sick.
It was on Wednesday 21st June and the teachers who went were Mrs Camilleri, Mrs
Gabriel, Mrs Roberts and Miss Nassif. The classes that went were 3T and 3CG.
When we got to the car park Mrs Roberts got off and went to look at the path. When
she came back we all walked down the path. And when we got there the Brewongle
teachers introduced themselves to us.
We started to walk off with the Brewongle teacher at the front and saw a wallaby
called Wendy. Then we learnt to use a compass. After we sketched we had recess.
The groups rotated and had lunch. After lunch we went on the bus again and my
partner was Ella.
When we got back to school I was exhausted. The Brewongle excursion was really fun.
