A note from the Principal
Welcome to the latest edition of the Clairgate
Chronicle – Term 2, Week 8 – 15/06/17
Milson Island Camp
Our Stage 3 children thoroughly enjoyed their Milson
Island experience last fortnight– they spent 3 days
canoeing, bush walking, hiking, having fun on the
giant swing, participating in rope activities and all in
all having an amazing time. Huge thanks to our
wonderful staff who went and shared this adventure:
Ms Paulic, Mrs Veide, Mr Blanch, Mr Wilkinson and
Mrs Roberts – you did a great job! I want to thank our
lovely staff members for taking time from their own
families in order to go on camp – that is dedication
and commitment – we are so lucky to have you at
Clairgate. We received a lovely letter from one of our
wonderful parents thanking the teachers for their
commitment – this was very well received (as was the
package of goodies!).
Student Teachers
As you know Clairgate has a wealth of
extraordinary teachers with highly recognized
skills and abilities. It is for this reason that we are
extremely sought after by all universities as a
school where trainee teachers can come and learn
from the best. This term we have had 5 student
teachers working and learning in our classrooms
and over the next few weeks we say thank you,
farewell and good luck as they leave us and finish
their teaching degrees. I know our teachers and
children have enjoyed working with, and guiding,
this next generation of teachers. Well done to all
of you.
Reports
Our teachers are busily writing their mid-year
reports on your children. These reports will be
handed out at the end of week 10 (Friday, 30th
June). If you have any concerns about these
reports I would encourage you to seek an
appointment with the teacher in the first instance
to discuss this.

Brewongle Excursion
This week 4M and 3/4G went to Brewongle – a
unique excursion to an “outdoor classroom”.
Brewongle is a Department of Education school.
The students were given the wonderful
opportunity to learn geographical concepts, skills
and tools and they used these to investigate the
geographical features of a natural environment.
The activities included bush walking, micro-
climate testing, mapping and field sketching. 3T
and 3C/G are looking forward to their excursion
to Brewongle next week.
Our Wonderful Sandpit
Have you noticed the new addition to the main
quad area – I can tell you the children have
certainly noticed…and rejoiced! Huge thanks to
the Tancred family for finding and delivering this
wonderful sandpit – many children are having a
lovely creative time at recess and lunch with the
sand. Our wonderful Mr Glen is busily following
the design of this sandpit and making another one
for our children to enjoy. We also want to thank
the lovely family who donated this sandpit to us –
I will be sending them a thank you letter on behalf
of the children.
Enrol now for Kindergarten – 2018
If your child is turning 5 years of age before the
31st July 2018, they can enrol at Clairgate Public
School for 2018. Please collect an enrolment form
from the front office and return it as soon as
possible. Proof of age is required – original birth
certificate or passport, as is your child’s
immunization certificate and proof of residence.
Please ask if you require support to complete any
part of this form.
Looking forward to a productive fortnight.
Kind regards,
Mrs Michelle Lawrow
