Term 1, Week 8 Wednesday 21st March, 2018
Welcome to the Clairgate Chronicle for this fortnight –
Week 8, Term 1 (21/03/2018).
Clairgate Debating Team
On Monday Mr Wilkinson took our Debating team to
Blackwell for some intensive training. Our students worked
hard on their debating skills and were praised for their
excellent attitude and creative arguments. Well done to all!
Rock Your Socks
Our Crazy Socks Day went very well today. We raised over
$360 for the Down Syndrome Society – what a great effort
everyone.
Harmony Day
Clairgate celebrated Harmony Day last Wednesday and we
all got into the spirit of respect for everyone. Many children
dressed up in their culture’s traditional costumes and
looked wonderful. Have a look at some of the great photos
later in the newsletter.

Debating
On Monday 19 March 2018, five students from
Clairgate Public School attended a debating workshop
at Blackwell Public School. The day was a valuable and
enjoyable day for the students. They were given
handbooks full of tips and were trained by Barbara
Partington, the district and state debating coach and
adjudicator. The students were involved in short
debates with and against other students in the STEP’s
community schools. All the students were excellent
ambassadors for our school, and displayed the skills
and abilities that helped them to be chosen in the
team. The team is looking forward to the upcoming
debates at different STEP’s schools over the next two
terms.
Team: Layla, Yousof, Lucy, Alex, Leah and Ava.
Coach: Geoff Wilkinson
