Mindfulness for Daily Living- Terri Bergstrom $12New class! Though it has its roots in Buddhist meditation, a secular practice of mindfulness has entered theAmerican mainstream in recent years, in part through the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn and his Mindfulness-BasedStress Reduction (MBSR) program, which he launched at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in1979. Since that time, thousands of studies have documented the physical and mental health benefits of mind-fulness in general and MBSR in particular, inspiring countless programs to adapt the MBSR model for schools, prisons, hospitals, veterans centers, and beyond. The practice of mindfulness basically means being aware ofyour thoughts, physical sensations and surroundings; being "present." This class is an introduction to mindful-ness, and is easy to “learn.” We will explore ways to become more mindful in our lives, and it will be extremelyexperiential.
