CONTENTS PAGE DEVELOPMENT

I chose this layout because this was the layout that received the best feedback in my focus group, in addition the responses in my questionnaire said that the colour combination of white and purple was the most popular and therefore I have left the background colour white and made the header purple.

I chose this image because it is bold and the model is displaying the body language common in images in rap magazines. In addition it is the feature that my focus group liked and one of the reasons this layout was their favourite.

I chose this image because it displays a lot of the conventions seen in rap magazines featuring heavy jewellery and the appropriate body language, facial expressions and blocking within the image. It is also one of the only images with a consistent background of one colour and is therefore suitable as I received lots of feedback to make my central image cover the whole page and this type of background shows a much better quality than one I may have had to edit to that extent.

I chose these cover lines because they reflect those that I have seen on professional contents pages, in addition they feature articles, lists, album reviews, backstage tour information and competitions, all of which were listed as favourite features in my audience questionnaire that they would include in their own magazine.

I reversed the layout to the other side of the image again because I felt it would look better over the blank space on the right of the image than over the picture but kept on the left side of the image. I also got rid of the graphic feature because even though I received good feedback about it I was unable to fit it in with the suitable number of cover lines on the right and in addition I was unable to take images of anyone other than Rose Goddard and therefore it wasn’t suitable because it was just one image layered on top of another of the same person. I felt this arrangement would increase the look of quality and professionalism.
