     Advantages of CFB combustion Boiler  Advantages of CFB combustion Boiler

    • Clean coal combustion – Lower NO

    X

    emission

     – Lower cost desulphurization during combustion

    • Fuel flexibility

     – Low grade coals, low volatile fuels: anthracite andpetroleum coke, coal mine mouth and coalwashery wastes, Biomass, municipal solid waste

    • Lower Load rate•  Ash can be used for cement

    • Stability of operation

    Status of CFB Boilers in ChinaStatus of CFB Boilers in China

    • Total number of CFB boilers in operationby the end of 2007 was 2637 units with

    total installed capacity of about40,000MWe;

    •  Among the total 40,000MWe CFB boilers,

    unit capacity between 100-200MWe wasover 100 units and unit capacity of300MWe was 8 units in operation;

    • China has been the country with thelargest number and capacity of CFB

    boilers in the world.

    defined as Anthracite;· Anthracite is diff icult to ignite,

    stable and completecombustion by PC boiler, but

    is a good fuel for CFB boilers;

    · China is rich in anthracitereverse and production, it isused as steam coal for powergeneration. CFB is a excellentsolution for efficientanthracite combustion.

    over 2500 mill ion tons in 2007, large amountof coal mine and coal washery wastes can beconverted into electricity through CFB powergeneration;

    • Only in Shanxi Province, which is the largestcoal producer in China, 5,000-6,000MWe CFBpower plants burning coal mine and coalwashery wastes will be built during 2006-2010,which will consume 30-40 million tons of coalmine and coal washery wastes .

    ConclusionsConclusions

    • CFB as a clean coal technology is very important forthe countries such as China where coal is the

    dominant factor in energy structure;• China has been the country with the largest number

    and capacity of CFB boilers;

    • CFB has been a mature technology as utility boiler forpower generation with unique advantages vs PCboilers such as low emissions and fuel flexibility;

    • CFB is specially suitable for burning anthracite, lowgrade coal, biomass and municipal solid waste forpower generation.
