Eligibility Criteria for Various Grades of Membership

FELLOWS (Byelaw-11) To be retained by the Candidate

11. A candidate for election as a Fellow or for transfer to the class of Fellow shall satisfy the Council that he possesses the followingqualifications:

(a) Age: He shall have attained the age of thirty five years on the date of his application for election or transfer.(b) Academic Qualification: AMIETE/BE/B.Tech/B.Sc. (Engg) in Electrical Engg., Electrical Commn Engg; Instrumentation Engg;

Information Technology; Computer Science; Bio-electronics.ME/M. Tech/MS, (Computer Science), MCA/MSc (Computer Science), ALCCS, DOEACC 'C' Level, DOEACC 'B' Level.

OR

shall have passed any other examination, which in the opinion of the Council, is equivalent to or warrants exemption, from theAMIETE examination of the Institution

OR

shall have passed a post-graduate examination of a recognised university, and/or Institution or equivalent in any of the disciplinesas in Bye-Law 1(t).

(c) Occupation: He shall be engaged in the discipline in a position of high responsibility, provided that a temporary unemploymentshall not be deemed a disqualification; or shall have retired from the profession after having held, before his appl,ication forelection or transfer, a position of high responsibility.

(d) Experience: He shall have had at least ten years experience in the discipline during which he, either shall have held a positionof higher responsibility in an organisation for a period of five years, or shall have made outstanding contribution in the discipline.-'

MEMBERS(Byelaw-12)12. A candidate for election as a Member or for transfer to the class of member shall satisfy the Council that the possess the following

qualifications:(a) Academic Qualification: AMIETE/BE/B.Tech/B.Sc. (Engg) in Electrical Engg., Electrical Commn Engg; Instrumentation Engg;

Information Technology; Computer Science; Bio-electronics.ME/M. Tech/MS (Computer Science), MCA/MSc, Physics with Electronics, Computer Science, ALCCS, DOEACC 'C' Level, DOEACC'B'Level.

OR

shall have passed any other examination, which in the opinion of the Council, is equivalent to or warrants exemption, from theAMIETE examination of the Institution

OR

shall have passed a post-graduate examination of a recognised university, and/or Institution or equivalent in any of the disciplinesas in Bye-Law 1(f).

(b) Experience: He shall have had subsequent professional experience of at least five years during which he, either shall haveheld a position of responsibility in an organisation for a period of four years in the discipline or shall have made a significantcontribution in Electronics and/or Telecommunications, provided a temporary unemployment shall not be deemed a disqualification.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS (Byelaw-13)13. A candidate for election to the class of Associate Member shall satisfy the Council that he possesses the following qualifications;(a) Age: He shall have attained the age of twenty one years on the date of his application for election.(b) Academic Qualification: He shall have passed the AMIETE examination of the Institution as per examination regulations prescribed

by the Council from time to time;OR

BE/B.Tech/B.Sc. (Engg) in Electrical Commn Engg; Instrumentation Engg; Information Technology; Computer Science;Bio-electronics.

OR

shall have passed any other examination, which in the opinion of the Council, is equivalent to or warrants exemption, from theAMIETE examination of the Institution.

ASSOCIATES (Byelaw-14)Every candidate for election to the class of Associate shall be not less than 30 years of age and shall satisfy the Council that he has

rendered useful service to the profession of Electronics, Telecommunication Engineering, and allied subjects either in the field ofCommerce or Finance or Law or in any other area of application. Notwithstanding the above, a candidate enrolled in IETE for postgraduateAdvanced Level Course in Computer Science shall also qualify for election to the class of Associates

(1) That copies of Certificates of Qualifications and Experience are to be attached with the Form.(2) (a) For Fellows (i.e. FIETE) : shall be proposed by two corporate members of the Institution of the class not below that

of a Fellow.(b) For Members (i.e. MIETE) : shall be proposed by two corporate members of the Institution of the class not

below that of a Member.

(c) For Associate Members/Associates: shall be proposed by two corporate members of the Institution of theclass not below that of an Associate Member.
