14-15-16-17-18 APRIL 2010 Dear Athletes and Drivers,
The Organising Committee for the Geneva International Horse Show has the pleasure to welcome you to this very special occasion, the jumping and driving World Cup finals. The infrastructures were rethought with the aim of offering the best conditions towards horses and competitors. Your horses will enjoy spacious, quiet stabling, a huge main arena of 4,700 m2 , a training paddock measuring 34m x 50m (1,700 m2) and an additional arena of 26 x 40m (1,040 m2) at certain hours. The stewarding was strengthened for night surveillance as well as the system of video-cameras. Stables will be closed from midnight till 6:00 am, any visit during these opening hours will be obligatory accompanied by an FEI steward. The total prize money for the show’s top riders is now €625,000 (euros) in the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Final, and an additional CHF 300,000.- for the other competitions as well as CHF 40,000.- for the FEI World Cup ™ Driving Final. Finally, we draw your attention to the new measures concerning social insurance in Switzerland (cf page 22) and remind you not to forget to come with a certificate. We hope that you find the invitation of interest and that we shall have the pleasure of welcoming you once more to our competition. A) ACCOMMODATION COMPETITORS AND OFFICIALS

They will be able to get free food and drinks at the "Riders' Corner". The guests will be housed in first class hotels. Those who choose to stay in a hotel other than the one assigned to them, who change room or who do not accept the customary rules in their hotel, will personally bear the responsibility. The above-mentioned privileges shall apply: from 1. the night of Monday 12th of April to Tuesday 13th of April 2010, up to and
including the night of Sunday 18th of April to Monday 19th April 2010 for the Jumping Riders qualified for the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Final,
2. the night of Tuesday 13th of April to Wednesday 14th of April 2010 up to and including the night of Saturday 17th of April to Sunday 18th of April for the riders who will not take part in the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Final.
3. the night from Friday 16th of April to Saturday 17th of April 2010 and the night of Saturday 17th of April to Sunday 18th of April 2010 for the FEI World CupTM drivers (maximum 2 double bedrooms per driver).
The costs for any extension will be at the riders' and drivers' expense. The Show Jumping Athletes will have the benefit of these privileges only if they participate in at least three competitions with each of their horses entered in their names (except for veterinary reasons).

The show jumping grooms (maximum one per competitor), will receive a compensation of CHF 40.- per day, from Tuesday April 13 to Sunday April 18, 2010 (six days). The driving team grooms will receive the same as from Friday April 16, 2010 (maximum one per driver, three days). This does not concern the grooms of the "Suisse Romande Wild Card" Athletes.

C) REIMBURSEMENT
a) HORSES (Jumping) For all competitors residing in Switzerland: no transport or travel compensation Horses qualified for the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Final: Overseas Transportations costs of horses and grooms to Europe are at the expense of the respective riders. The horses coming from other continents can arrive on Saturday 10/04/2010 during the afternoon. Europe Transportations costs of horses and grooms are at the expense of the respective riders. The European horses can arrive on Monday 12/04/2010 during the afternoon. North America The OC will pay transport for the American, Canadian and Mexican horses. An amount of $16,000 will be paid per qualified Athlete. This amount includes the transport of one qualified horse, the equipment and the journey of the groom. This sum covers all the OC´s obligations for the journey of the horse to and from Geneva. The OC´s transport agent (Peden Bloodstock in conjunction with FERT) will be at disposal to answer any question concerning the importation or exportation of the horses. The North American horses can arrive on Saturday 10/04/2010 during the afternoon. The Committee shall not bear any additional costs resulting from a dispatch, which does not conform to these instructions.

The Committee shall not take out any insurance for the transport of the horses and persons accompanying them, its liability shall not, in any event, exceed that of the transport contractor being used. If, in case of accident, illness of an animal or bad road conditions, the Committee is called upon to hire transport at the request of and on behalf of the competitors, it shall in no case assume liability in case of accident, and this without recourse either against the transporter himself or the Committee; the handling of loading and unloading, moreover, devolves upon the grooms themselves and involves their own responsibility. Stabling arrangements for the jumping horses will be paid by the OC: from Sunday, April 11, 2010 afternoon to Sunday, April 18, 2010. For North American horses from Saturday, April 10, 2010.
b) HORSES (Driving)
The Committee meets transport expenses for the drivers as follows: For the driving teams CAI-W: CHF 3.- per km, per team, "one way "
(max CHF 3,000.-)
The stabling arrangement for the driving horses will be made from Friday, April 16, 2010 after 12h30 pm to Sunday, April 18, 2010.
All the horses will be stabled in boxes in Geneva Palexpo, in a hall adjoining the show arena which will be strictly controlled and to which access will be restricted in accordance with the Veterinary Regulations (Art. 1005). Wood shavings and feed will be sold at cost price. Straw and hay will be provided free of charge for those who want. c) ATHLETES Europe The OC will reimburse an airline “economy class” ticket to the amount of CHF 500.- maximum for each European Athlete qualified except for Swiss riders for whom the OC will not reimburse any travel cost. Overseas The OC will reimburse an airline “economy class” ticket to the amount of CHF 500.- maximum for each qualified Overseas rider. USA, CANADA, MEXICO The OC will reimburse the American, Canadian and Mexican qualified riders for an “economy class” airline ticket. The amount will be set on the 15th February 2010. D) WELCOME
In order to make it easier for their arrival, Athletes and drivers should inform the OC of the time and date of their arrival and that of their horses as well as their means of transport.
E) LOCAL TRANSPORTATION – HOTEL – SHOWGROUNDS SHUTTLE
The official hotel of the competitors of the CHI-W is located at 50 meters from the hall and a shuttle service is available at the CHI-W official village.

F) ADVERTISING AND PUBLICITY ON COMPETITORS AND HORSES (Art.136.1-2, 936.2,947.3,960.4)
The jumping competitors are authorised to carry the logo of their personal sponsor on the saddlecloth in accordance with Art. 136.1-2. The Chief Steward will check that the advertising and publicity on competitors and horses complies with Article 136 of the General Regulations.

The driving competitors are authorised by the OC to display the logo of their personal sponsor on the marathon carriage (size 2520 cm2) and on the back(s) of the groom(s) (1260cm2). It's the steward's responsibility to make sure that the logos comply with the FEI rules.

Any horse entered for the CHI-W 2010 must have an Official FEI Passport or a National Passport, validated by the FEI as a means of identification and to establish ownership. A horse without a passport may not compete except with the express approval of the Appeal Committee (Art.139.7 FEI GR). CHI-W entries are made in accordance with art. 654.1 and 654.2. All entries must be compulsory made via the online entry system HippoBase. Please be inform that any fax, mail or e-mail sent to the CHI-W will be ignored by the OC. CHF 300.- for the 3rd horse Driving: CHF 750.- per driver Entry fees will be settled at the same time as prize money. Entries Jumping and Driving Each Rolex FEI World CupTM Finalist may enter only three horses (two for the Rolex FEI World CupTM Final Competitions only).
Each non-Rolex FEI World CupTM Finalist may enter only two horses.
Each driving competitor may enter only five horses. The Secretariat must be informed of any additional, non-competing horse brought to the show before arrival and there will be a charge of CHF 75.- per day for stabling expenses (additional litter, wood shavings and food will be at the rider's expense). For access to the Geneva Palexpo stables, the same health requirements must be fulfilled as those for horses participating in the events. Jumping: General Regulations "Suisse Romande Wild-Card" Swiss athletes who have been awarded a "Suisse Romande Wild-Card" have a separate set of regulations. Horses "Suisse Romande Wild-Card” are subjected to veterinary visit. The athletes holding a "Suisse Romande Wild-Card" and their groom will receive no daily nor transport allowance. Athletes participating in the CSI-W thanks to a "Suisse Romande Wild-Card" will not have to pay entry fees, but their stable box will cost CHF 75.- per night, (in addition, litter, wood shavings and food will be at the rider's expense). Qualified athletes who wish to participate in the Credit Suisse GP, he will be asked to pay a tax of CHF 400.- like any other athlete invited to the CSI-W. If these riders choose to take a hotel room, it will be at their own expense. The "Suisse Romande Wild-Card" riders who qualified during the Grand Prix competitions, the Swiss Championship and the Suisse Romande Championship can compete in 5 classes of their choice except the Rolex FEI World Cup classes (Finals). In agreement with the Swiss "Chef d'équipe" and the organisers, one other horse can be entered as long as the admission criteria have been filled in. It is not possible to ride in the Jockey Club classes.

All "Suisse Romande Wild-Card" athletes can take part in the warm-up sessions on Tuesday, 13th of April 2010 NB: If any Athlete withdraws after the closing entry date without a valid excuse (example: illness or lameness), the competitor will have to reimburse the OC for the financial loss it incurs (limited to stabling and hotel expenses) as a result of the late withdrawal.

Entry forms must include the following information: The CHI-W will use the HippoBase online entry system. All entries must be made this way. HippoBase will be available from the 15.02.10 so that the NF can make their inscriptions. The online data will be regarded as the only official data by the OC and the FEI. Any information sent to the OC by email or fax, will not be accepted. The FEI will approve any information regarding competitors and horses available on the online database. The FEI Rolex World Cup™ Finals will be available on HippoBase on February 15, 2010, so that NF’s may begin the entry process for their riders at www.hippobase.com Competitors must provide the following details regarding their horses: Name of rider, FEI registration number of the Athlete, name of the horse/pony, passport number, date of birth, sex, breed, colour, country of birth, name(s) of owner(s) compulsory information for an accreditation, stud-book initials. This is the required data for establishing the starting lists and accreditations.

VETERINARY REGULATIONS 11th Edition, 1st January 2009 effective on the 1st January 2009 (see website www.horsesport.org)
VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS, HORSE INSPECTIONS & PASSPORT CONTROLS
These will be carried out in accordance with the "Veterinary Regulations", Art. 1011 & the discipline rules. "General Regulations", 23rd Edition, effective 1st January 2009: Art. 137.1 Every horse entered for any competition at CNs or CIMs (see Appendix E) in a foreign country (see GRs 139.2), and all horses entered for other CIs, CIOs, Championships, Regional and Olympic Games, whether at home or in foreign countries (see GRs 139.2), must have an official, valid FEI Passport, or a National Passport approved by the FEI and accompanied by an FEI Recognition Card and, when applicable, an FEI registration number, as a means of identification and to establish ownership. Art. 137.2 Horses taking part in CNs and CIMs (see Appendix E) in their country of residence are not required to have such a passport as is mentioned in paragraph 1. All such horses must be properly registered with the FEI and identifiable and, unless there is no national requirement for equine influenza vaccination in the host country and in the country of origin all horses must have a valid vaccination certificate. EQUINE INFLUENZA VACCINATION, VET. REGS. ANNEX VI (except events taking place in NZL & AUS) From 1 January 2005 onwards, influenza vaccination for all horses competing in FEI competitions requires a vaccination within six months + 21 days of the competition. 1. All horses intending to participate in FEI competition must have at least received an initial primary course of two vaccinations, given between 21 and 92 days apart. Thereafter, a third dose (referred to as the first booster) must be given within 6 months + 21 days after the date of administration of the second primary dose, with at least annual boosters given subsequently (i.e. within one year of the last dose). 2. If the horse is scheduled to take part in an FEI competition, the last booster must have been given within 6 months + 21 days of arrival at the FEI event. (The 21-day window has been provided to enable vaccination requirements to fit in with the competition schedule). 3. No vaccination shall be given within 7 days of the day of arrival at the FEI event. 4. All horses that were certified as correctly vaccinated under the previous FEI equine influenza vaccination rule prior to 1st January 2005, do not need to start a primary course again provided that they have complied with the previous rule of primary course and annual re-vaccinations and the new rule of a booster vaccination within 6 months + 21 days of the day of arrival at the FEI event.

Measures against doping and application of the Federal Law for the protection of animals The Federal Law regarding the animal protection (anti-medications battle) prevails, also in the case of the CHI-W of Geneva. If, during next months, a worrying evolution in the Epidemic of Equine Infectious Anemia should be noticed, the Organising Committee reserves the right to demand proof of a negative Coggins Test at the vet check, in order to comply with the FEI or Federal Veterinary Office regulation. SAMPLING FOR PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES (Vet. Regs. Chapter V & VI and Annex III) Regular sampling is carried out in CCI3* and CCI4*, CSIs (3*, 4*, 5*), CIOs, World Cup Qualifiers and Cup Finals, Championships and Games, whereas at other CIs sampling is recommended. Where testing takes place, the number of horses tested is at the discretion of the Testing Veterinarian/Veterinary Delegate. At CCI3* and CCI4*, CSIs (3*, 4*, 5*), CIOs, World Cup Qualifiers and Cup Finals, Championships and Games it is recommended that a minimum of 5% of all horses (with a minimum of 3 horses tested) must be sampled (see also VR Art. 1016.5.). Special guidelines are applicable for events covered by the FEI Medication Control Programme (Groups I & II only). MEDICATION CONTROL PROGRAMME (GROUP I & II ONLY) The Organising Committees of FEI events within Groups I & II are advised to charge competitors the equivalent of CHF 12.50 per horse per event as a contribution towards the costs of the MCP programme. The OC will bill the amount of CHF 12.50 per horse in the final count on Sunday, April 18th 2010, at the Sports Finances. The organising committee reserves the right to subject any horse that has been presented to the veterinary re-inspection and accepted by a jury, to a medication inspection (MCP). The international stables will be controlled by a video-system.

NFs holding an international event in their country should inform their National Veterinary Authority and their Customs Authority at least four weeks beforehand. They should request every facility to assist the movement of horses accompanied by FEI Passports, and the necessary veterinary certification at frontier crossing points into and out of their countries. In case of problems with pre-issued ATA Carnets which need to be amended, the official customs agent FERT & Cie will charge CHF 50.- for entry into Switzerland and CHF 50.- for return into the EC. This fee is to be paid directly to FERT & Cie, through the Finances Sportives of the CHI-W. Please remember that horses arriving with ATA Carnets must be presented to the French customs and then at the Swiss border to the FERT & Cie's, Mr André Barthassat (Tel. +41(0)79 659 80 54). Departure from Switzerland: The same documents must be presented at the Swiss Customs' Office when horses leave the country. The re-exportation should take place no later than 7 days after the end of the event. In principle, there is no veterinary inspection at the border when entering the European Community (EC). The CHI-W veterinarian will provide a health certificate at the end of the event. Upon their arrival, each participant or their representative will immediately provide all details concerning their departure. All documents needed for entering Switzerland (ATA Carnet, customs permit, passports, health certificates) are to be handed over to the Veterinarian Commission when the horses are unloaded. Return and departure of horses at the close of the CHI-W Upon arrival, the competitors will be contacted by the representative of the Transport Commission, who will ask for their instructions. No changes can be made to the departure arrangements after 10 a.m. on Friday April 16, 2010 for riders and respectively 2 pm for the drivers. Should a change be really necessary, the Secretariat must be informed immediately (in writing) – to the attention of the Transport Commission – with no guarantee that the change will be successful. Extra costs are to be borne by the originator of the request. The time schedules for collecting the equipment from the stables and the departure of the horses will be indicated on the evening preceding departure. Their departure should take place at the latest Monday, the 19th April, 2010. The Committee reserves the right to refuse payment of any additional costs or consequences that could arise due to late information (later than Friday, April 16, 2010 at 10:00 am for riders, respectively 2 pm for the drivers) of changes in departure plans. As trucks are prohibited on Swiss roads on Sundays, special authorizations will be issued by the Swiss Automobiles and Navigation office at the request of the CHI-W Transport Commission, against payment of a minimum fee of CHF 150.-. The Treasurer will deduct the cost of the permit from the final account. Competitors wishing to obtain one of these permits must inform the Transport Commission on their arrival. In accordance with Swiss Law, trucks are prohibited on the roads on Sundays in Switzerland, exceptional authorisation will be hand out by the Swiss automobiles and navigation office.

D) SALE OF HORSES The registration of the owner and of the horse in the official list of entries shall fix the nationality of the latter for the whole period of the competition. The Secretariat, Transport Commission and the Customs Agent must be informed immediately of any transaction carried out during the competition. The sale, purchase or exchange of a horse shall eliminate ipso facto the advantages granted for the horse's return. Swiss buyers of foreign horses temporarily imported for the horse show shall be responsible for the deals they make, especially with regard to the formalities for final importation and for the payment procedures provided for in the contract. The OC accepts no responsibility for problems that could arise because the Secretariat was not informed of the sale or exchange of the horse in time. It especially draws the competitors' attention to the fact that horses temporarily imported for the horse show are not subject to the regular customs and health formalities. A straightforward, detailed report is drawn up by the competent services who issue a customs permit valid for a period of 30 days (but maximum 7 days after the close of the competition). In the case of a sale or exchange of horses, the customs regulations must be met and a veterinary check made, with the agreement of the OC, before the close of the horse show. VI. MISCELLANEOUS
1. OBJECTIONS/COMPLAINTS (Art. 167-171)
To be valid, any complaints and objections must be made in writing and accompanied by a deposit of CHF 150.- or the equivalent.
2. PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY
The distribution of prizes, etc., will take place at the end of every Competition. The riders and the drivers are kindly requested to follow and respect the instructions given by the OC.
3. PRIZE MONEY: TAX AT SOURCE AND SOCIAL INSURANCE
I: TAX AT SOURCE We inform you that in a letter dated March 28th 1996, the Canton of Geneva stated its intention to apply the Federal Law regarding direct taxation and the Law of taxation at source. These legal provisions concern all competitors in the CHI-W (riders and drivers) who do not have a Swiss residence permit. This means that on net winnings, after deduction of living expenses indicated on the final statement of account at the end of the competition, a tax rate of 0 to 25% will be applied, according to the total balance. Our Sports Financial Service can provide additional information on this matter. An official declaration detailing the fiscal deduction will be given to each competitor concerned, together with his/her final statement. It will facilitate the recovery of this tax in his/her country of residence.

II: SOCIAL INSURANCE The activity of riders and drivers is considered as an independent activity by the Federal Insurance Office. As a consequence all earnings must be included and declared by all competitors in their independent revenue both in Switzerland and abroad. A: SWISS COMPETITORS All Athletes living in Switzerland, are requested to hand in a proof of their affiliation as an independent to an official compensation office of the OASI (Old Age and Survivors Insurance-AVS/AHV). In case you do not provide this document, the earnings of "Prize Money" exceeding the amount of CHF 2,200.- will be subject to contribution of the OASI (AVS/AHV). The CHI-W cannot bear the cost of an employers part, the applicable rate will be 13.61 ( example: if the prize money is CHF 10,000, an amount of CHF 1,361 will be deducted and a net amount of CHF 8,639 will be paid out to the competitor). B: FOREIGN ATHLETES For riders coming from a country which is part of the European Union (EU) or a country from the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), we kindly ask you to hand in the E 101 formula, which proves that you are subject to a social security system as an independent in your country. In case of not handing in the documents, we remind you that the possible earnings of "Prize Money" must be considered as an income of an independent activity and that it is your responsibility to declare this as such in your country. We draw your attention to the fact that the Swiss OASI could perform controls in your country. C: OTHER FOREIGN ATHLETES We remind you that the possible earnings of "Prize Money" must be considered as an income of an independent activity and that it is your responsibility to declare this as such in your country.
4. DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES AND INDEMNITIES (Art. 130)
The distribution of the sum awarded to each class shall be fixed according to the importance of the class and the number of competitors in such a way as to reward at least one out of four competitors (Art. 129 FEI GR). If several horses are equally placed, the cash prizes due to them shall be added together. The sum of this total will be distributed in equal parts to these horses equally placed.
Payment of the riders' winnings will be made by the Treasurer, Bureau des Finances sportives, 30 minutes after the end of the last class. Payment of the drivers winnings will be made by the Treasurer, Bureau des Finances sportives, 30 minutes after the end of the FEI World Cup™ Driving Final. All payments (cash prizes, registration, travel expenses, deposits, etc) will be made in Swiss francs (CHF), except for the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Final classes (euros).

6. INSURANCES
All owners and competitors are personally responsible for damages to third parties caused by themselves, their employees, their agents or their horses. They are therefore strongly advised to take out third-party insurance providing full coverage for participation in equestrian events at home and abroad, and to keep the policy up to date. No insurance coverage for fire or theft, for either horses or equipment, is provided by the organisers. Accidents, illness, fires The Committee assumes no responsibility for accidents or illness that might occur affecting the owners, riders, driving teams, grooms or horses, nor for thefts, fires or any other damages.
7. EVENT'S ORGANISATION (Art. 114 - 115)
In exceptional circumstances, together with the approval of the competitors and the Ground Jury, the OC reserves the right to modify the schedule in order to clarify any matters or to resolve certain problems that could have arising from any omission or unforeseen circumstances. Any such changes must be notified to all competitors and officials as soon as possible and must be reported to the Secretary General by the Foreign Judge. If special circumstances occur, the Organiser reserves the right to cancel the event in agreement with the FEI.

THE FEI CODE OF CONDUCT
FOR THE WELFARE OF THE HORSE
The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) expects all those involved in international equestrian sport to adhere to the FEI's Code of Conduct and to acknowledge and accept that at all times the welfare of the horse must be paramount and must never be subordinated to competitive or commercial influences. 1. At all stages during the preparation and training of competition horses, welfare
must take precedence over all other demands. This includes good horse management, training methods, shoeing and tack, and transportation.
2. Horses and competitors must be fit, competent and in good health before they are
allowed to compete. This encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids.
3. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves paying careful attention to
the competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event.
4. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after
they have competed and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are over. This covers proper veterinary care, competition injuries, euthanasia and retirement.
5. The FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of
