Digipak • A typical convention of indie pop genre is that many digipaks and album

covers which I have researched tend to focus specifically on the artist, this is to make it easier for the audience to identify who the artist is. Although our artist wasn’t just one individual it was a band, we decided not to add the whole band in the cover picture of the digipak this was based on the bands decision as they would have preferred the lead singer to be on the cover to represent the whole band and the whole picture of the band together at the back of the digipak. What we applied to our digipak this was conformed through an example of an indie band called ‘Killers’ – as you can see he front cover focus’ more on one member of the band to show he represents them as a whole and at the back of their digipak there is an image of the whole band members.

• The image of the female singer on the cover of the digipak is a concept of what Laura Mulvey discussed about the male gaze, although it didn’t voyeuristic, it focuses on the females facial features and he beauty, therefore acts as a male gaze. This shows it takes on Goodwins theory on voyeurism to which women are presented in a way for men. for example, Taylor swift album cover ‘Red’ shows her red lipstick is a form of voyeurism to which attracts men.

• Another convention is on the cover, the and/ artists name is the biggest title before the actual album name for example on Lana del rey’s album, you can see hwo her name is presented large so the audience can notice straight away who the artist is, therefore we applied this to our cover.

Magazine Advert• Other artists such as Beyoncé has magazine adverts of

their albums landscape to make the cover stand out to the audience, because of this as a group we decided to apple this to our magazine advert by designing it landscape, this means that instead of having just one page in a magazine we would have two and this would catch the audiences attention as its presented as bold as it takes up two pages in a booklet.

• More common conventions on other artists magazine adverts are things such as the artists band name, website details, social networks where the audience can find out more information about the band/artists, as well as very important information such as the date on when the album is realising all of these forms and conventions is what makes a professional magazine advert therefore we applied all these to ours.
