Christian faith is a grace and can be perceived only in the hearts of those willing to be surprised by the joy of the Resurrection, Pope Francis said at his weekly general audience April 19. "A closed heart, a rationalistic heart" is incapable of understanding the Christian message which has God's love — manifested in Christ's victory over death — at its center. "How beautiful it is to think that Christianity is essentially this: It is not so much our search for God — a search that is, truthfully, somewhat shaky — but rather God's search for us."
While riding through the square among the assembled pilgrims, Francis also took a moment to greet an elderly woman who, overcome with emotion, cried and stretched out her arms to embrace the pope. He stooped over, warmly embracing the woman and gently caressing her face before making the sign of the cross over her forehead.
Continuing his series of talks on hope, the pope reflected on St. Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians in which the apostle emphasizes the Resurrection as "the heart of the Christian message." "Christianity is born from here. It is not an ideology nor a philosophic system but a path of faith that begins from an event, witnessed by Jesus' first disciples," the pope said.
St. Paul's summary of those who witnessed the risen Christ, he noted, ends by describing himself as the "least worthy of all" given his dramatic history as a one-time adversary of the early Christians. St. Paul "wasn't a 'choirboy.' He was a persecutor of the church, proud of his own convictions," the pope said, departing from his prepared remarks. But "one day something completely unpredictable happens: the encounter with the risen Jesus on the road to Damascus."
It is the surprise of this encounter, the pope continued, that all Christians are called to experience "even if we are sinners." Like the first disciples who saw the stone overturned at Jesus' tomb, all men and women can find "happiness, joy and life where everyone thought there was only sadness, defeat and darkness." God, Francis said, is greater than "nothingness and just one lit candle is able to overcome the darkest night." "If we are asked the reason for our smile and our patient sharing, we can respond that Jesus is still here, he continues to be alive in our midst," the pope said. "Jesus is here, in this square with us, alive and risen."

At the Center of Family Love, we have five values that define who we are:
Teamwork. Respect. Integrity.
Compassion. Kindness
A TRULY GREAT OPPORTUNITY IS AT HAND!
The Knights of Columbus has played a central role in providing and
maintaining the Center of Family Love in Okarche. On the weekend of May 7th,
we will join them in launching a new initiative to provide a stronger base of
support by “adopting” one of the residents. An envelope will be supplied for
that purpose. All proceeds from that offering will be matched by the parish at
large. There will be additional information in next Sunday’s bulletin.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT
The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City through its programs, organizations and events, has numerous daily contacts with many children and young people. It is, therefore important that all Archdiocesan Personnel, clergy, seminarians, religious, employees and volunteers, protect the rights of children and be alert to the possiblity for child abuse. Under Oklahoma State law, all individuals MUST report an incident or suspicion of sexual abuse of a minor (person under 18 years of age) to the civil authoriites. The Oklahoma Department of Human Services has established a statewide abuse reporting hotline for reporting: 1-800-522-3511. This number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you feel a child is in immediate danger of harm call 911. For the safety of children and the healing of victims, the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City provides an Abuse of Minors Pastoral Response Hotline for reporting the abuse of a minor (in the past or present) by a member of the clergy or other church personnel: 1-405-720-9878. The Archdiocesan Victims Assistance Coordinator, a licensed professional counselor, will respond to calls to the Archdiocesan Pastoral Response Hotline. A report to the Archdiocese does not relieve the individual of the duty to report child abuse to civil authorities as required by Oklahoma State Law. In Oklahoma, failure to report child abuse is a misdemeanor punishable by law. Training in Safe Environment is required for all who work with children or youth in our parish – especially for catechists, chaperones and nursery workers. Training for these individuals will be offered:
