GOSPEL: john 20: 19-31 Put yourself in Thomas' place. When the risen Jesus appeared to the other disciples, you were absent. Now they are insisting that not only did they see him, but he breathed the power of the Holy Spirit on them. Poor Thomas! You definitely feel left out. So you insist that you will never believe unless you get to stick your finger into Jesus' wounded hands and side. A week later you have an opportunity to be true to your word. Jesus once again appears and invites you to touch and examine his wounds. Your doubts are blown away! You exclaim, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus points out that you believe because you have seen him for yourself. But who do you now hear him praising? 1.) What is the first thing Jesus says to his disciples who are hiding behind locked doors? 2) Why do you think he says this? 3.) What does receiving the power of the Holy Spirit enable the disciples to do?

Announcements: My Dear Parishioners, For the past four months, I have been serving as administrator Of Epiphany Church in order to allow Father Eugene Tungol complete freedom during the time of his sabbatical. It has been a joy for me to do so, and to come to know once again the wonderful community of faith and services that Epiphany represents. In early March, Father Erick had to return ur-gently to Panama to be with his mother as she faced a grave health crisis from which she has not yet recovered. Last week, Father Erick informed me that he would in all likelihood not be returning to the parish soon, as his mother’s health is still very precarious. Because Epiphany is the largest parish in the city, both Archbishop Niederauer and I felt that this vibrant parish could not continue without a full-time pastor or associ-ate during the coming months. For that rea-son, the Archbishop has appointed Father Victor Balagapo to serve full-time at Epiphany for the coming months as administrator, until Father Eugene’s recovery is complete. Father Balagapo is a splendid priest who recently served as administrator of Saint Peter’s par-ish, which is also quite large. He will be a great gift to you. There are no words to describe the magnificent service that Father Rolando and Father Aquino have rendered to Epiphany dur-ing these past months. Although both are retired priests of our Archdiocese, they have given incredibly generously of themselves in every way- hearing confessions, celebrating Mass, preaching and counseling. I also wish to offer my sincere thanks for the splendid work that the parish and school staff have carried out during this diffi-cult period, and the wonderful lay leadership which animates the entire Epiphany community. Both have made my service here a truly enjoy-able and welcoming one. I will continue to offer my prayers for Epiphany community and espe-cially Father Eugene, a good friend. May God bless you all in abundance.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Bishop Robert W. McEloy Most Reverend Robert W. McEloy Auxiliary Bishop of San Francisco
