2nd SUNDAY OF EASTER – DIVING MERCY ~ “Divine Mercy Sunday” is the title given to the 2nd Sunday of Easter. The image of the Divine Mercy is an image of Jesus with rays of light or waves of energy shooting out from his heart. The message is clear: the mercy of Jesus Christ is for everyone. His mercy and grace and love are really limitless. The message and season of Easter celebrate this so powerfully in his love from the cross, a love without any limits or conditions. Pure total love –
available to all! What could possibly prevent a person from surrendering without any question to such love and mercy? The gospel today reveals the gift of mercy and love given to Thomas. The apostles, except Thomas, were gathered on Easter night and suddenly Jesus stood in their midst. “Peace be with you,” he said. They were overjoyed. When Thomas joined them later they burst with joy and excitement as they shared the news of his resurrection. Thgomas doubted: “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail-marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” There you have it! To be fair, it was a rather incredible testimony. Strong man, Thomas, wanted/needed something more than some hysterical testimony. After all, everyone had been through a lot since the previous Thursday! Thomas got his wish. To his credit, he experienced the Risen Lord and responded with profound faith: “My Lord and my God.” He went from 0 to 100 instantly. We have ‘50’ days of Easter until the great feast of Pentecost to experience, to savor, to understand, open up to these great mysteries and an even greater faith. To those little corners of doubt and ‘mis’-understanding, Jesus himself wishes to speak: “Do not be un-believing, but believe.” What better Sunday than this to experience with Thomas: doubting, questioning, seeing, hearing, receiving, believing in the all-loving, all-merciful, Jesus the Christ! Alleluia!!!

Next weekend, all parishes in the Archdiocese will take up this Annual Collection. Your contribution goes directly

The goal of the Cardinal McIntyre Fund for Charity is to service the “neediest of the needy,” those for whom no other resources exist. Please be generous! Special envelopes are in the pews today.

Adults and children 12 years and older, $5.00, (younger children, $2.50). NOVENA OF MASSES — A novena of Masses for those mothers, living or deceased whose names are given to us will begin on Sunday, May 12 and concludes on Monday, May 20. Cards and envelopes are available in the church. The envelopes with the names can be placed in the regular collection or left at the Pastoral Center. For living mothers there are cards in the envelope which can be given to them.

SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE PASCUA — LA DIVINA MISERICORDIA — "Domingo de la Divina
Misericordia" es el título dado al Segundo Domingo de Pascua. La imagen de la Divina Misericordia es una imagen de Jesús con rayos de luz o de ondas de energía brotando de su corazón. El mensaje es claro: la misericordia de Jesucristo es para todos. Su misericordia, su gracia, y su amor no tienen límites. El mensaje y temporada de Cuaresma celebran esto con tanta fuerza por su amor desde la
Cruz, un amor sin límites ni condiciones. Un amor totalmente puro — al alcance de todos! Que podría impedirle a alguien para rendirse sin cuestionar tanto amor y tanta misericordia? El Evangelio de hoy nos revela el don de la misericordia y amor hacia Tomás. Los apóstoles, excepto Tomás, se reunieron la noche de la Pascua cuando de pronto se presentó Jesús en medio de ellos. "La paz esté con ustedes", dijo. Se llenaron todos de alegría. Cuando Tomás se reunió con los discípulos, estos estallaron de alegría y emoción por la noticia de su resurrección. Pero él dudó: "Si no veo en sus manos la señal de los clavos y si no meto mi dedo en los agujeros de los clavos y no meto mi mano en su
costado, no creereé”. Que les parece? Para ser justos, fue más bien un testimonio increíble. Hombre fuerte, Tomás, buscaba, necesitaba algo más que un testimonio histérico. Después de todo, todo mundo había pasado por mucho desde el Jueves anterior! Tomás consiguió su deseo. Para su crédito, experimentó al Señor resucitado y respondió con profunda fe: "Señor mío y Dios mío". Se fue de un 0 a un 100 instantáneamente. Tenemos '50' días de Pascua hasta la gran fiesta de Pentecostés para experimentar, para saborear, para comprender, para abrimos a estos grandes misterios y a una fe aún mayor. Para esos pequeños rincones de la duda y conceptos erróneos, el mismo Jesús desea hablar: "No sigas dudando, sino cree”. ¿Qué mejor Domingo que este para experimentar con Tomás: dudando, preguntando, viendo, oyendo, recibiendo, creyendo en el todo amoroso, todo misericordioso, Jesús el Cristo! ¡¡¡Aleluya!!!
