Comedy Corner contributed by S. Higman (no. 199)(most copyright info unknown - web-exchange)
Mr. and Mrs. Potato have a Yam
Boy Potato and Girl Potato had eyes
for each other. When they were oldenough, they got married and had alittle sweet potato they called Yami.
As all parents do, they wanted thebest for little Yami. When the time was right, they told her the facts of life.
They warned her not to go out with her friendsand get half baked because she might get mashedand earn a bad name for herself, like Hot Potato, then end up with a bunch of Tater Tots.
Yami told them not to worry. She wouldnt let any
spud take advantage and make a rotten potato outof her. But on the other hand, she didnt plan tosit at home and become a couch potato, either. She would make sure that she got plenty ofexercise and not be too skinny like her shoestringcousins.
Before heading off to Europe, Mr. and Mrs. Potatowarned Yami to watch out for the hard boiled guysin Ireland and the greasy guys in France, thoseFrench fries.
When she returned from Europe and headed outwest, her parents warned her to watch out for the
Indians so she wouldnt get scalloped. Yami assuredthem that she would stick to the straight andnarrow and not associate with those snooty YukonGolds.
Yami attended PU (Potato University). When shegraduated, she was really in the chips.
One day, Yami came home and announced thatshe was going to marry Tom Brokaw. Mr. andMrs. Potato were quite upset. They told her shecouldnt possibly marry Tom Brokaw because hewas just a Common-Tater.
House Rules for Dogs and Cats.
Post them where they can be read by your pets.
Dear Dogs and Cats,The dishes with the paw print belong to you and containyour food. The rest of the dishes belong to me and con-tain my food.
Please note, if you put a paw print in the middle of myplate or food, that does not stake a claim for it. It is stillmine. I also do not find it aesthetically pleasing in theslightest.
NASCAR did not design the stairway. It is not a race-track. Trying to beat me to the bottom is not the object.Tripping me will not help you win because I will fallfaster than you can run.
A king-sized bed is the largest that is made. I cannot getanything bigger. I am sorry about this. Do not expect me
to continue to sleep on the couchto ensure your comfort.
Dogs and cats are capable ofcurling into a ball when theysleep. It is not necessary to
sleep perpendicular next to each other and stretchedout to the fullest extent possible.
Sticking your tail out straight and hanging your tongueout the other end to maximize space is nothing but sar-casm.
For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bath-room. If by some miracle I manage to beat you thereand get the door shut, it is not necessary to whine, meow, claw, try to turn to doorknob, or squeeze yourpaw under the door to try to pull it open. I have to exitthrough the same door I entered.
Also, I have been using the bathroom for many years --feline or canine attendance is not required.
Young Aviation
Working in aviation, I was doing the
night shift at the airport directing the
planes in and out. All of a sudden the
radio crackles and I hear a young
voice request permission to approach
the runway to land. I ask for a name, and he replies,
guess who? I turn off the runway lights and say,
guess where?!
