BACKGROUND EPWORTH HEALTHCARE Epworth HealthCare is the largest not-for-profit private health care group in Victoria, delivering excellence in world class healthcare across eight hospital campuses and several specialist medical centres around Melbourne. The group provides acute medical and surgical services, sub-acute care, diagnostics and rehabilitation to more than 133,000 inpatients and 156,000 outpatients each year. Epworth is a leader in cardiology, oncology, maternity, urology, gastroenterology, orthopaedics and rehabilitation. The organisation has five divisions employing over 4,300 staff with 2,400 accredited Medical Specialists and 1,000 affiliated General Practitioners across Victoria. EPWORTH MEDICAL FOUNDATION Epworth Medical Foundation was established in 1982 to generate vital funds to support the activities of Epworth HealthCare ensuring patients receive the best possible outcomes. The Foundation has a number of programs through which members of the community can support Epworth HealthCare. These include special events, direct marketing, bequest planning, memorial giving, volunteers, and grant funding through trusts and foundations. Funds raised by the Epworth Medical Foundation are used to pursue excellence in clinical care via the purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment, funding education scholarships, developing research programs and extending facilities. Donations made to the Epworth Medical Foundation make a real and positive difference to the health and wellbeing of patients and their families. The foundation is registered as a Deductible Gift Recipient with the Australian Tax Office. .

MEN’S HEALTH LUNCH Overview Aim To raise awareness of men’s health issues and raise funds to improve patient care at Epworth. Topic Joint Health – improving your joints Master of Ceremonies 3AW’s John Burns Panel Discussion Panel discussion including: Sports Medicine Physician Dr Peter Larkins Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Andrew Tang Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Tim Whitehead Date Thursday 7th May 2015 12.00 noon to 2.30pm Venue Members’ Dining Room Melbourne Cricket Ground Audience 500 guests including leaders of industry, politics and community Proceeds Funds raised from this event will be used to purchase equipment and improve patient services in orthopaedics. Background The Men’s Health Lunch is held annually in May with a focus on a different health issue each year. 500 guests attend the event held in the Members Dining Room of the MCG. Last year the event raised $145,000 for cardiac services at Epworth.
