Shepherd’s Pie would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to all who volunteered of their time days prior to Thanksgiv-ing Day to prepare and cook the turkeys and side dishes; to help set up the tables and decorate; greeters; servers; dish-washers and anyone else in between. A special thank you to the teens who helped in many different capacities to ensure the ‘turkey process’ ran smoothly. Another special thank you goes to the grocery gift cards and cash received. It truly was a blessing! Over the winter months, your generous monetary donations will be used to cook meals for our local hungry. And to those who attended our community dinner, we thank you for the opportunity to give thanks together.

Questions: If you would like to talk with someone about this project, contact Sandy Corrigan at 570-743-3373

NATIONAL NIGHT OF PRAYER FOR LIFE On Friday, December 8th from 9:00 pm to 1:00am, our parish will participate in the 28th Annual, National Night of Prayer for Life. The purpose is to unite our prayers with Catholics throughout the US in an effor t to help br ing back the world to Christ and to bring about an end to abortion. December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a Holy Day of Obligation celebrating the conception of Mary. December 9th is the Feast Day of Juan Diego. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Unborn and the Americas. The hours are chosen to coincide with Our Lady of Guadalupe’s appearance to Juan Diego and the four hour time frame spans all four time zones in the US. At the Hour of Unity, 12:00 Midnight to 1:00 AM EST, the entire na-tion will be united in prayer to End Abortion and protect Life, the Church, Religious Freedom and the Family. Yes, the hours are late. Yes, it is a busy time of year. Yes, it is a sacrifice. A sacrifice of love and of self for the conversion of our nation. We implore you to make the sacrifice and join us in prayer, if not the entire night then spend but one hour watching with us. God Bless and we hope to see you there. For more information or how to help, contact Michael and Joyce Seno, 570.837.3405 or [email protected].

TIME AND TALENT SURVEY RESULTS We are happy to share with you some of the results of our recent Time and Talent Survey. The good news is that 67 parishioners have expressed an interest in becoming involved in various ministries for the first time. We are excited about the following ministry “Not To Die Alone” - volunteers will be present with parishioners dying who have no family or support family members by their presence when a loved one is dying. Eleven people signed up for this ministry. Seven people will make social visits to parishioners who live alone. Three families will share their homes for a day with S.U. students who can’t go home for the holidays. Five new Ex-traordinary Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion and seven Readers /Lectors. Ten people showed an interest in exploring the possibility of a dinner dance. Eight additional people for the cleaning Angels. We appreciate everything that our parishioners do to share their time and talents to help build up St. Pius X Church as a caring community. Call the parish office at 570-374-4113 if you are interested in volunteering for a minis-try. It is never too late to volunteer!

SELINSGROVE CENTER CHRISTMAS PARTY

St. Pius X will host a Christmas Party for individuals at the Selinsgrove Center on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 7 pm. All parishioners are invited to help with caroling and refreshments, sharing our faith and the spirit of the holidays with residents. Contact Clara Kovacs for more information at 570.743.7702. Our 7th and 8th Grade students are encour-aged to participate in this activity as service hours for Confirmation.
