What is global service jam?

In a spirit of experimentation, innovation, co-operation and friendly competition,

teams will have less than 48 hours to develop, design and prototype completely

new services inspired by a shared theme using Design Thinking methodology.

More than 55 cities from all over the world are participating with already more

than 1100+ participants. At the end of the weekend, their collection of brand new

services will be published to the world.

So, Who are the 1100+

people who will participate?

In a traditional sense, we are used to believe

that anyone who is directly involved would

want to be here. Ergo people who design

services like design thinkers, service

designers or business men.

Must be designers from various areas who will attend this?

them.

We are also inviting a variety of similar people this year,

so that the experience is enriching and everyone is at

the end of it , very excited to have worked with such

variety of people and to have also interacted with

people around the world.

Err, but what exactly is

service design?

Service design is an multidisplinary approach that

combines different methods and tools from

various disciplines. It is a new way of thinking as

opposed to a new stand alone academic

discipline.

It is all about making the service you deliver

useful, usable, efficient, effective and desirable.

You may have used some of them.

Huh! Do you know that India is service led industry with around

60% GDP coming from only services?

Page 10: Global Service Jam 2012: Bangalore Chapter

What do I gain from this? THE BIG QUESTION THAT HAS BEEN HAUNTING YOU FOR A

WHILE NOW & SOME OF YOU HAVE BEEN SKIPPING SLIDES

JUST TO GET TO THIS PAGE.

Page 11: Global Service Jam 2012: Bangalore Chapter

This is a unique platform where people from different

discipline come across a common table to learn

methods of Design thinking by doing (and not thinking!)

Challenge teams on your design thinking skills and the

solutions you make.

Network with people locally ( and Globally!) from

Bengaluru who are interested in Design Thinking

Methodology.

Learn. Challenge. Meet.

also be knowledge by taking a session on frameworks

onto approaching a service design problem, certificates

or maybe even bean bags!

We love bean bags!

Volunteers: There is a lot room here for help also. We

volunteers for many purposes. To lead and guide teams

with frameworks and process, for helping in the

production work during and after the event.

us to train you into the process enough that you would

be able to handle queries.

Participants: This of course, are the people we are

working for . Everything we are trying to do here in

these session is for you to come and meet people. Your

only duty is to come forward, step up and contribute the

WE have sponsorship packs and small

added benefits to this role, we will be giving a

small session on service design tools, special

mentions and some video footage that

happen on the location.

We are still planning and setting the stage

right now, but this is going to be excited.

This is the most exciting stage to be in.

Although there are no responsibilities here,

but like I said would love to hear before hand

from you. Ideas, suggestions, small
