Dr. Alan Paul Price, Dean and CEO of the campus made the pres- entation to Swillinger on August 26 during a back to school work- shop for faculty and staff as they prepare for the start of classes next week. The contest, funded by the Washington County Campus Foundation, was open to anyone ages 22 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED, who had not attended UW-WC in the last two years and desired a college degree. Contestants had to write a 250 word essay explaining how the makeover would positively impact their lives. Swillinger currently works as program director/executive assis- tant for Roots & Branches (formerly West Bend Beautification Committee). As a non-profit employee, she works for a “very small salary and paying for the classes she needs is a financial burden.” She is hopeful that the scholarship will be the jump start she needs to finish her goal of an Associate degree. An active member of the community, Swillinger is also busy helping with this fall’s United Way annual campaign.
