Chipping is a picturesque limestone village located in the county of Lancashire in the North West of England. The village is situated 8.5 miles to the north west of Clitheroe and 12.7 miles north east of Preston.

The name “Chipping” is derived from the Old English “ceping”, which means “a market”. Once a market centre on the doorstep of the Royal hunting grounds at Leagram Hall, Chipping became a thriving village of manufacturing centred around the waterways.

Dating back to the late 17th Century, the historic core of the village remains relatively unchanged, retaining it’s vernacular charm with narrow streets bound by a mixture of limestone buildings. Planning has been granted to provide this comprehensive leisure environment, with the mill as the centrepiece, which dates from 1785 and still retains many original features including the water wheel and its gearing system that will be preserved. The adjoining dilapidated factory buildings are to be demolished to make way for a new extension that will combine traditional design with modern utility providing modern purpose built accommodation, whilst enhancing the character of the wider development and restoring the central part of the conservation area.
