IMPORTANT INFORMATIONnot lock the circuit break-ers in the off position, se-curely fasten a prominentwarning device, such as atag, to the service panel.
• All wiring must be in accor-dance with national and lo-cal electrical codes. If youare unfamiliar with wiring, you should use a qualifiedelectrician.
• To reduce the risk of per-sonal injury, do not bendthe blade attachment sys-tem when installing, bal-ancing, or cleaning the fan.Never insert foreign objectsbetween rotating fanblades.
• The fan blades cannot beplaced lower than 2,3mfrom the floor.
DO YOU NEED HELP?
To install a ceiling fan, be sure youcan do the following:
• Locate ceiling joist or othersuitable support in ceiling.
• Drill holes for and install woodscrews.
• Identify and connect electricalwires.
• Lift 16 kg.
If you need help installing the fan, your Hunter fan dealer can direct youto a licensed installer or electrician.
• The installation site musthave an all-pole switch witha minimum separation gapof 3 mm.
WARNINGS
• To avoid possible electricalshock, before installingyour fan, disconnect thepower by turning off thecircuit breakers to the out-let box and associated wallswitch location. If you can-
CAUTIONS
• Read entire booklet care-fully before beginning in-stallation and save theseinstructions.
• To reduce the risk of per-sonal injury, attach the fandirectly to the supportstructure of the building ac-cording to these instruc-tions, and use only thehardware supplied.

GATHERING THE TOOLS
You need the following tools to in-stall the fan:
• Electric drill with 9/64" bit andmasonry bit
• Standard screwdriver
• Phillips-head screwdriver
• Wrench or pliers
• Two M5 x 30 mm expansion an-chors (for concrete ceilings only)
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES
Consider using Hunter’s optional ac-cessories, such as a wall-mounted orremote speed control. Follow the in-structions for installation and use in-cluded with each Hunter accessory.
For quiet and optimum performanceof your Hunter fan, use only Hunterspeed controls.
STEP 1 - GETTING READYPREPARING THE FAN SITE
Reliable operation, efficiency, andmaximum energy savings dependupon proper placement and attach-ment of the fan. For this reason, wehave included a separate booklet —“Guide to Choosing and Preparinga Ceiling Fan Site”— to help you se-lect the best location for your fan.The booklet also provides informa-tion to ensure your fan support andelectric outlet box meet UL-approvedsafety codes for ceiling fans.
The instructions in this installationmanual assume that you have usedthe “Guide to Choosing and Prepar-ing a Ceiling Fan Site” to pick thefan location and make certain theproper fan support and outlet box areinstalled.
CHECKING YOUR FAN PARTS
Carefully unpack your fan parts toavoid damage. Check for shippingdamage. If one of the fan blades isdamaged, return all blades for re-placement.
Hint: If installing more than one fan, keep the fan blades in sets, asshipped.
EASY LOCKTM BLADE SYSTEM
Your new Hunter ceiling fan includesour exclusive Easy LockTM blade as-sembly which locks the blades inplace without tools and eliminates upto 40 parts. It also allows easy re-moval of the blades for cleaning.

STEP 2 - INSTALLING THE CEILING PLATE1. Drill two pilot holes into the wood
support structure through the out-ermost holes on the outlet box.The pilot holes should be 9/64"in diameter and 4 1/4" (110mm)apart. See Figure 2a.
2. Insert the 3 rubber isolators intothe 3 round holes in the ceilingplate as shown in Figure 2b.Thread the lead wires from theoutlet box through the openingin the middle of the ceiling plate.
3. Align two opposing oval slots inthe ceiling plate with the pilotholes in the wood support struc-ture. See Figure 2b.
ANGLE MOUNTINGFor Angle Mounting be sure to orientthe Ceiling Plate so that the arrowsmarked on the plate are pointing to-wards the ceiling peak. See Figure 2b.

4. Place a flat washer on each of thetwo 3" wood screws and pass thescrews through two opposing ovalslots in the ceiling plate, as shownin Figure 2c. You may substitutethe 3" wood screws with the pro-vided 1 1/2" wood screws forshorter depth installations. Be surethat enough of the screws entersthe mounting surface to supportthe assembled fan.
WARNING
• To avoid possible electricalshock, before wiring fan, disconnect power by turn-ing off the circuit breakersboth to the outlet box andto its associated wall switchlocation. If you cannot lockthe circuit breakers in theoff position, securely fastena prominent warning de-vice, such as a tag, to theservice panel.

ceiling around the room withoutcausing a draft.
To change the direction of airflow, turn the fan off and let itcome to a complete stop. Slidethe reversing switch on the fanto the opposite position as shownin Figure 10c. Restart fan.
4. If your fan wobbles when oper-ating, use the enclosed balancingkit and instructions to balance the fan.
1. Turn on electrical power to thefan.
2. The pull chain controls power tothe fan. The chain has four set-tings in sequence: High, Medium,Low and Off.
• Pull the chain slowly to changesettings.
• Release slowly to prevent thechain from recoiling into theblades.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCECaring for blades: Wood finishblades should be cleaned with a fur-niture polishing cloth. Occasionally,a light coat of furniture polish maybe applied for added protection andbeauty. Painted and high-glossblades may be cleaned in the samemanner as the fan finish.

Caring for finishes: For cleaning, asoft brush or lint-free cloth shouldbe used to prevent scratching the fin-ish. A vacuum cleaner brush nozzlecan remove heavier dust. Surfacesmudges or an accumulation of dirtand dust can easily be removed byusing a mild detergent and a slightlydampened cloth. An artistic agentmay be used, but never use abrasivecleaning agents as they will damagethe finish.
