News and Views Great Work Last week I had the opportunity to spend some time with Years 5 and 6 . I also had some students visit to show me their work. Skye, Chloe L, Tanner and Alanah from K/1G shared their great addition and subtraction work. Harry in K/1H read me his Rhino information report and Kallum from 2/3W showed me his neat handwriting. Well done guys, keep up the great work. World Teachers Day On Friday 25th October is World Teachers Day and I would like to acknowledge the work teachers do, their dedication, commitment and their professionalism. The occupation of a teacher requires a range of very special personal qualities, strengths and talents. It requires selfless-ness and an unrelenting focus on children and their best interests. I would like to thank our teachers for the special job they do. CARES – Community and Education Bike Safety 2013 Wyee Public School’s Year 5 and Year 6 students will be participating in a Bike Education and Safety day at Palmdale on Thursday 24th October 2013. The CARES program is presented by NSW Police Officers and it will involve a pre-visit lecture, an outdoor obstacle course to enhance basic cycle skills and a roadway cycle course to expose students to a variety of real road situations in a controlled and safe environment. The program is designed to encourage positive and responsible attitudes to riding and to develop knowledge to help children and teenagers ride safely on the road. The cost to participate is $12.00 and if you would like your child to attend please return the permission note that was issued last Friday. Loud Shirt Day This Friday 18 October 2013 is Loud Shirt Day, a fun one day event when you can wear your brightest clothes and raise money to help give the
gift of sound and speech to deaf children. Whether you fancy stripes, florals, polka dots or paisley, as long as its got colour and pizzazz, it will be per-fect for Loud Shirt Day. Don’t forget to bring in a gold coin donation.
