ATTENTION
MASS INTENTIONS AVAILABLE FOR THE YEARS 2020 & 2021
St. Peter the Apostle has spots open for Mass inten-tions for both upcoming years of 2020 and 2021. While Mass intentions are most-popularly said for a deceased loved one, they may also be said on behalf of someone’s personal intentions, birthday wishes, anni-versary blessings, etc. A Mass intention is a wonderful way to honor someone in your life. Mass cards may be purchased at $10. We also offer a Sanctuary lamp to be lit for a week for the same reasons. The cost to light the Sanctuary Lamp is $15 and it will stay lit for one week in honor of the specified intention. Our Sanctuary Lamp is in front of the Tabernacle and the Marian Sanctuary can-dle. Please note: the fee for the Mass Card or lighting the Sanctuary Lamp must be collected prior to the date of the intention. If you would like to purchase a Mass card or have the Sanctuary Lamp lit for a specific intention, please con-tact Colleen in the Parish Office at:
732-545-6820 or [email protected]

Today we are asked to imitate the Magi. They do not debate; they set out. They do not stop to look, but enter the house of Jesus. They do not put themselves at the center, but bow down before the One who is the center. … Their actions reveal a close contact with the Lord, a radical openness to him, a total engagement with him...Indeed, the Magi go to the Lord not to receive, but to give. Let us ask ourselves this question: at Christmas did we bring gifts to Jesus for his party, or did we only exchange gifts among ourselves?
- Pope Francis,
Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, January 2018
Engage more deeply in Sunday Mass & Serve your parish!
A message from your Director of Sacred Music, Anthony Nardino
Over the last few weeks, I have had several conversa-tions with members of our choir relating to their ser-vice in the choir. I asked them what they enjoyed most about singing in the choir. It was striking to me that the two most common themes that emerged had nothing to do with music! 1) Singing in the choir provides members with the opportunity to engage more deeply in Sunday Mass. By reviewing the hymns and songs in advance, the themes of each Mass and liturgical season are al-ready imprinted in our minds and hearts. When we come to the Mass itself, choir members are "in tune" with these themes and more receptive to hearing the prayers and readings. 2) Each choir member is a liturgical minister. As a body, "the choir" is a liturgical minister which serves a function called for by the liturgy. In singing anti-phons and psalm verses, the choir acts as "proclaimer of the word," much like a reader. In singing the con-gregational hymns and songs, the choir supports the full assembly, giving them confidence to fulfill their role. In this way, being in the choir is an act of ser-vice to the liturgy and to fellow parishioners. Would you like to engage more deeply in Sunday Mass and serve your parish? Join the choir! Stop up to the choir loft after Mass, or contact our music di-rector & organist, Anthony Nardino, whose contact information is on page 2 of the bulletin.
