graduating class. It was a memorable evening as graduates and their families, teachers and
administrators, the school board and Superintendent Dr. Burnie Roper recognized and rewarded these students with the diplomas they strived for so long to acquire. Congratulations seniors on this momentous occasion!

This year’s Water Day was a huge success!!! With 4 water slides available to each grade level fun was sure to be had by all. It was a perfect day to soak up the sun and stay cool with our
water activities. The Pk-2nd enjoyed their time with the Tropical slide, a 16 foot high slide that ended with a pool of water that left you soaking wet.
The 3rd – 6th also had a great time with their slides, the fan favorite seemed to be the Wipeout slide that was more than 18 ft tall and had nice little steep to the slide, but the best part of that slide was the bump in the middle that if hit just right, bumped you into the air for a nice little
airtime. Thank you to all the teachers that came out to support their class and watch the fun unfold. A big thanks to the high school seniors that helped on our special day by attending to our
slides. And a final thanks to the maintenance staff that helped gather and made sure all the
necessities were available to us.

Stacey Bands Finish Great Year!
By: Davis Merica
There are currently around 50 members in high school band and 16 members in the 7th grade
band. Both bands are led by Mrs. Kathy Brock.
The band won several awards this year, including having 1 student place in the high school region
band and 5 in the junior high region band. 25 division 1s on solos, including 6 students who
advanced to state. The Eagle band earned all 1s and UIL Concert and Sightreading, which
qualifies the band as a varsity level band. At Schlitterbahn Sound Waves Music Festival, the
7th grade and Eagle Bands combined to earn all 1s and a trophy for outstanding band.
Throughout the school year, the band travelled to several different places for competitions,
including Pearsall, Hondo, Fredericksburg, New Braunfels and Pleasanton.
The Eagle band has t-shirts that they wear for pep rallies and informal concerts. For UIL they
wear tuxedos and formal black dresses. (They got new ones this year!)
6 students advanced to the State Solo and Ensemble Contest, which was held on May 26th in
Pflugerville. They state contest judging standards are very high: a “1” at regional competition
is approximately at the same level as a “3” at state. Students that competed at the state
contest: Matthew DelVechio- “2” in piano solo, Malina Morales- “3” in flute, Sinead Bolton-
“2” in viola and Alaya Keana “2” in vocal. Also the flute trio of Malina Morales, Debbie Wooton
& Meryl Belisario received a “2”.
The band plays pep rally music in the fall, then prepares for our Christmas Concert. We
worked on a movie concert in February, then our UIL music for April. The spring concert was
held last week.
The band holds 2 fundraisers each year – kettle corn in the fall and cookie dough in the
spring. The money helps pay for the spring trip.
The biggest accomplishments this year (all “firsts” for our band program at Stacey) are having
1 student make the high school region band, having 6 students advance to state solo and
ensemble contest, all 1s at UIL contest.
