Parish Elections—UPDATE

During this very unusual time as we remained physically distanced from each other, we could not follow established guidelines

to proceed with parish elections. Fr. Jim conferred with the Msgr Vicar of the Archdiocese for guidance of how to proceed with

elections. Based on the Vicar’s response and guided by the 6 members of the Election Committee (2 each from PC, FFC, and

CSB) the St Cecilia Pastoral Council gave permission to ask all current members of the Pastoral Council, Faith Formation

Commission, and Catholic School Board to extend their term for one year. Those members unable to extend will be replaced by

appointment of Fr Jim for those terms that should end in 2020 and by Fr Don Czapla for terms ending in 2021 and 2022.

Black Bag Collection—this weekend: We are thankful to many of

you who are continuing to give to the Black Bag collection. We are still

experiencing a short fall in what we have budgeted for the agencies that

we as a parish, through the Social Justice Committee, support on a

monthly or yearly basis. If you would continue to be generous in helping

St. Cecilia’s meet the needs that we have committed to. In addition to Mass, donations can

be made by mailing or dropping off your contribution to the parish office. If you bring your

contribution into the church, you can drop your envelope off in the mail slot to your left

along the wall. You can also contribute through ACH or Bill Pay via your bank. Please mark

all contributions “Black Bag Contribution.” Thank you!

MICA Food Collection

Next collection at St. Cecilia’s will be held the weekend of June 20/21. You can drop off

donations in the food cart at Mass or in the Narthex beginning Tuesday, June 16 through

Monday, June 22, 10am. During the months of March, April and May, even though Mass

was not being held in the church because of the virus, over 1,300 pounds of food and

supplies for MICA were brought to the Narthex by parishioners. This was amazing – thank

you and please keep it up.

Beginning next Saturday, June 27, I will resume the celebration of the

Sacrament of Penance. The following procedures will be followed:

1. Confessions will be heard from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Please, observe this time period. Do

not get in line after 4:25 p.m. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

2. Confessions will be celebrated in the Vesting Sacristy located off the Narthex and not in

the Reconciliation Room at the front of the church.

3. A non-permeable screen will be set up. Two chairs will be available, one behind the

screen the other on the opposite side (respecting social distance in both instances) for

those desiring the open (face-to-face) option.

4. For our mutual protection KEEP YOUR CONFESSION SHORT AND TO THE POINT. No

"narrative" confession or seeking prolonged spiritual direction. No need to mention

numbers of times for sins confessed unless they are mortal sins.

5. FOLLOWING CONFESSION THE SCREEN AND CHAIRS WILL BE DISINFECTED. I

RING A BELL SIGNALING THAT THE NEXT PERSON IN LINE CAN ENTER. DO NOT

ENTER UNTIL YOU HEAR THE BELL.

6. These procedures will be in effect until July 11. Father Czapla may change them once he

becomes pastor.

7. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

Who benefits from Stephen Ministry?

Everyone benefits from Stephen Ministry. Those receiving

care from a Stephen Minister benefit from the support, en-

couragement, and prayer they receive throughout the crisis

they face. Stephen Ministers benefit from the spiritual growth

they experience while being involved in this meaningful min-

istry. The St. Cecilia’s pastoral staff benefit from an expansion

of the caring ministry that they can provide to their parish-

ioners so that no one slips through the cracks. Most of all you

benefit from the knowledge that trained Stephen Ministers

are available to provide you with confidential one-to-one

Christian caregiving should you need it. In addition, you have

a resource where you can refer a friend, neighbor, coworker,

relative, or anyone else you know who is going through a dif-

ficult time; especially during these times of social isolation, so

they can receive the special care when they need it the most.

Summer Youth Ministry Text Reminders

Nights, HS Bible Study), sign up here: https://forms.gle/4sfEjLaF7RGRXT4B7. Please receive permission from your parents to

sign up.

Middle School Campfire Bible Study: All Middle School Youth (entering 6-9th grade) are invited to join Anchor EDGE for

a Campfire Bible Study on Thursday, 6/25 from 7-8:30pm. Each week we will play games and break open the scriptures for the

upcoming weekend. For more information on attending, please visit: http://www.anchorames.com/middle-school-summer-

activities.html.

Small Group Bible Study for All High School Students: Our Summer Youth Ministry is a Bible Study discussing the

Psalms. There are 150 Psalms and each week discuss a few different Psalms and learn how to pray with them, so join when you

can! For the month of June, this Bible Study will be conducted OUTSIDE at St. Cecilia at the school's grass field (right north of the

school) on Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:45pm. All high school students are welcomed to attend. In the event it rains on

Wednesday, we will meet online at https://csbsju.zoom.us/j/98299331220.

School is officially "out for the summer" following our school closure from March until the end of the

academic year. Even on our last day, our students and families were still giving - we held a food drive

during student material pick up and collected many items for Food at First and St. Cecilia's Hispanic

Ministry program. This summer, you may see some activity in our building. ACPC needed a facility for

their summer program, and so St. Cecilia will house one of their summer program sites. It will be nice

to see children here again and using the school for its true purpose, a place where children can find community. If you or your

acquaintances are considering St. Cecilia School for your child in the fall, please reach out! We are still enrolling. The best way to

reach me over the summer is via my email, [email protected]. The school office will be closed the majority of

June and July, but I am still available at any time. God Bless You, and have a great summer! Ms. Rooney
