If you have questions about your faith or just seek to

deepen your relationship with our Lord, a Spiritual

Director may be beneficial. The primary intent of

a spiritual director is to guide you in deepening your

intimacy with God. Deacon Dennis is a certified

spiritual director and has offered his service and time to

guide the people of our parish. If you would like to set

up a meeting with Deacon Dennis, please contact him at

[email protected] or call the church office at

985-652-9100.

with

Deacon Dennis Obienu

Our church is in need of additional

altar servers, ministers of hospitality,

and sacristans. If you are interested

and wish to find out more information

about any of these ministries, please

contact the church office. Those

wishing to be a Sacristan must be

approved and trained by the pastor.

“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and

especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

Please take a moment this weekend to

complete a brief survey concerning the fair.

Our church values your input in these

decisions. There will be a small survey card

in your pew this weekend. Please take a few

minutes immediately after Mass to answer

this survey. Please include your name and

number so that we may contact you if you

wish to be involved in the fair. Also, keep

in mind that a fair cannot take place

without committed volunteers. Please feel

free to offer suggestions on other spring

fundraisers.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT FOR

THE THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

ST. JOAN OF ARC PARISH

Look to today’s Gospel and you’ll find one of the most

arresting images in all of Scripture. Christ in a crowd,

everyone clamoring for his attention, pressing against

him. Several feet away is a chronically ill woman, weak

and desperate for help. She knows she doesn’t have a

chance of getting his attention. She has no connections.

She has no strength. All she can do is lift up her hand. So

that’s what she does. She reaches out.

There comes a time, or maybe several times, in each of

our lives when we become this woman. We’re tired and

we’re sick. Is it with sin? With fear? With anger? It

doesn’t matter. Whatever it is, it’s made us weak, and we

feel like we’ve run out of options. We’ve looked for help

and come up empty. We’ve consulted friends and gotten

nowhere. We’re lost in the crowd of life, unable to stick

our heads above the pressing throng to wave for help.

And there is Christ, always passing by us. The hem of

his cloak is never far from our grasp. We have no hope

of a big miracle like the synagogue leader. We don’t even

bother asking for that. But that cloak ... we can touch

that cloak. That’s something we can do. Do we do it,

though? Do we have the confidence of that sick, beaten-

down woman who knew so totally that healing was there

for the taking? Or do we retreat into the crowd,

stumbling back home with our pain and our sinfulness?

Reach out, friends. However, whatever, whenever —

reach out. Christ will not fail you.

— Tracy Earl Welliver, MT

OUR FAMILY PRAYER

Loving and faithful God, through the years the people of

our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of

Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster,

epidemic and illness. We come to you father, with Mary

our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today

against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to

give us your wisdom that we may build a community

founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the

life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may

form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth

that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give

consolation to those who have lost loved ones through

violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to

be a voice for life and human dignity in our community.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of

Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Mother Henriette

Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family.

VOCATIONS PRAYER

Gracious and loving God, help the men and women of

our archdiocese to hear your call to serve. Our needs are

great and our people thirst for your presence. Open the

hearts of many and raise up faithful servants of the

Gospel, dedicated holy priests, deacons, sisters, and

brothers, who will give of themselves for your people and

their needs. Bless those who are serving now, and our

parishioners in formation, Austin Rodrigue and Chris

Eichhorn, with courage and perseverance. Grant that

many will be inspired by their example and faith. We ask

this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

MASS INTENTIONS

GOSPEL REFLECTION

The author of The Cloud of Unknowing prays, “That which I am

and the way that I am, with all my gifts of nature and grace,

you have given to me, O Lord, and you are all this. I offer it all

to you, principally to praise you and to help my fellow

Christians and myself.” When we are struggling, we naturally

reach out for God because we know that a divine remedy is

the only remedy. But, in doing so we wrestle with letting God

take charge. We want something more miraculous and visible

than the obvious and have difficulty in finding consolation

simply resting in God’s presence. Our naked being, stripped of

any pretense or self-serving agenda, is being called to rest in

and love the uncreated Presence of God. Reach out in love to

God. Ask God to heal you from all that separates you from

Him. Put aside any ideas of God that create barriers between

you and God’s tender and endearing presence. The Cloud of

Unknowing leaves us with wisdom, “think of yourself and of

him in the same way, that is, with the simple awareness that

he is as he is and that you are as you are.” This is a meeting of

two friends who desire nothing more than to share life

together.
