1. SAFETY INFORMATION

Before the installation and use of the appliance, careful-ly read the supplied instructions. The manufacturer isnot responsible if an incorrect installation and use cau-ses injuries and damages. Always keep the instructionswith the appliance for future reference.

1.1 Children and vulnerable people safetyWARNING!Risk of suffocation, injury or permanent disability.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8years and above and persons with reduced physical,sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experienceand knowledge if they have been given supervision orinstruction concerning use of the appliance in a safeway and understand the hazards involved.

• Do not let children play with the appliance.• Keep all packaging away from children.• Keep all detergents away from children.• Keep children and pets away from the appliance door

when it is open.• If the appliance has a child safety device, we recom-

mend you activate it.• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by

children without supervision.

1.2 General Safety• Before maintenance, deactivate the appliance and

disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket.• Do not change the specification of this appliance.• Obey the maximum load volume of 8 kg (refer to the

“Programme chart” chapter).

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced bythe manufacturer, its service agent or similarly quali-fied persons in order to avoid a hazard.

• The operating water pressure (minimum and maxi-mum) must be between 0,5 bar (0,05 MPa) and 8 bar(0,8 MPa)

• The ventilation openings in the base (if applicable)must not be obstructed by a carpet.

• The appliance is to be connected to the water mainsusing the new supplied hose-sets. Old hose sets mustnot be reused.

2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

2.1 Installation• Remove all the packaging and the

transit bolts.• Keep the transit bolts. When you

move the appliance again you mustblock the drum.

• Do not install or use a damaged appli-ance.

• Do not install or use the appliancewhere the temperature is less than 0°C or where it is exposed to theweather.

• Obey the installation instruction sup-plied with the appliance.

• Make sure that the floor where you in-stall the appliance is flat, stable, heatresistant and clean.

• Do not install the appliance where theappliance door can not be fullyopened.

• Always be careful when you move theappliance because it is heavy. Alwayswear safety gloves.

• Make sure that there is air circulationbetween the appliance and the floor.

• Adjust the feet to have the necessaryspace between the appliance and thecarpet.

Electrical connectionWARNING!Risk of fire and electrical shock.

• The appliance must be earthed.• Make sure that the electrical informa-

tion on the rating plate agrees withthe power supply. If not, contact anelectrician.

• Always use a correctly installed shock-proof socket.

• Do not use multi-plug adapters andextension cables.

• Make sure not to cause damage to themains plug and to the mains cable.Should the appliance power supplycable need to be replaced, this mustbe carried out by our Service Centre.

• Connect the mains plug to the mainssocket only at the end of the installa-tion. Make sure that there is access tothe mains plug after the installation.

• Do not pull the mains cable to discon-nect the appliance. Always pull themains plug.

• Do not touch the mains cable or themains plug with wet hands.

• This appliance complies with theE.E.C. Directives.

Water connection• Make sure not to cause damage to the

water hoses.• The appliance is to be connected to

the water mains using the new sup-plied hose-sets. Old hose sets mustnot be reused.

• Before you connect the appliance tonew pipes or pipes not used for a longtime, let the water flow until it is clean.

• The first time you use the appliance,make sure that there is no leakage.

2.2 UseWARNING!Risk of injury, electrical shock,fire, burns or damage to the ap-pliance.

• Use this appliance in a household on-ly.

• Do not change the specification of thisappliance.

• Do not put flammable products oritems that are wet with flammableproducts in, near or on the appliance.

• Do not touch the glass of the doorwhile a programme operates. Theglass can be hot.

• Make sure that you remove all metalobjects from the laundry.

• The final part of the drying cycle oc-curs without heat (cool down cycle) toensure that the items will not be dam-aged.If you stop the appliance before theend of the drying cycle, immediatelyremove and spread out all items, sothat the heat can dissipate.

• If you use detergent, fabric softener orsimilar products, obey the instructionson the packaging.

• Wipe away lint that has accumulatedaround the appliance.

• Do not dry the damaged items whichcontain padding or fillings .

• Do not dry items such as foam rubber(latex foam), shower caps, waterprooftextiles and rubber backed articles.

• Before drying items that have been incontact with substances such as cook-ing oil, acetone, alcohol , petrol, kero-

sene, spot removers, turpentine, wax-es and wax removers, wash them inhot water with an extra amount of de-tergent.

• Do not dry items if industrial chemicalshave been used for cleaning.

• Make sure that no gas lighters ormatches have been left in the pocketsof the clothing.

• Only dry fabrics which are applicableto dry in the tumble dryer. Follow theinstructions on the fabric label.

• Do not dry not washed items in theappliance.

• If you have washed your laundry with astain remover start an extra rinse cyclebefore you start the appliance.

• Plastic items are not heat resistant.– If you use a detergent ball, remove

it before you set the drying pro-gramme.

– Do not use a detergent ball whenyou set a non-stop programme.

• Do not sit or stand on the open door.• Obey the maximum load volume.• Do not dry dripping wet clothes in the

appliance.

2.3 Care and CleaningWARNING!Risk of injury or damage to theappliance.

• Before maintenance, deactivate theappliance and disconnect the mainsplug from the mains socket.

• Do not use water spray and steam toclean the appliance.

• Clean the appliance with a moist softcloth. Only use neutral detergents. Donot use abrasive products, abrasivecleaning pads, solvents or metal ob-jects.

2.4 DisposalWARNING!Risk of injury or suffocation.

• Disconnect the appliance from themains supply.

• Cut off the mains cable and discard it.• Remove the door catch to prevent

children and pets to get closed in theappliance.

4.1 Child safety device• When you activate this device, you

cannot close the door. This prevents

children or pets to be closed in thedrum. To activate the device, turn itclockwise, until the groove is horizon-tal. To deactivate the device, turn itcounterclockwise, until the groove isvertical.

6.1 On Off button 1

Press this button to activate or deacti-vate the appliance. A tune sounds whenthe appliance is activated.The AUTO Stand-by function automati-cally deactivates the appliance to de-crease the energy consumption when:• You do not use the appliance for 5 mi-

nutes before you press button 4 .– All settings are cancelled.– Press button 1 to activate the ap-

pliance again.– Set again the washing programme

and all possible options.

• The delay startWhen you press the delay start button, the display shows the delaystart time.

• ErrThe display shows this message for some seconds if:– You set a function that is not applicable for the programme.– You change the programme while it operates.

6.4 Start/Pause button 4

Press button 4 to start or interrupt aprogramme.

6.5 Delay start button 5

Press button 5 to delay the start of aprogramme from 30 minutes to 20 hours.

6.6 Time save button 6

Press the button 6 to decrease theprogramme duration.• Press one time to set 'Shortened dura-

tion' for items with daily soil.• Press two times to set 'Extra Quick' for

items with almost no soil.

Some programmes accept onlyone of the two functions.

6.7 Drying time button 7

Press this button to set the time thatsuits the fabrics you have to dry. The dis-play shows the set value.Each time you press this button the timevalue increases by 5 minutes.

You cannot set all time values fordifferent types of fabrics.

6.8 Automatic dry button 8Press this button to set an automatic lev-el of dryness for the laundry. The displayshows the symbol of the set level.• Extra dry• Cupboard dry• Iron dry

You can not set all automatic lev-els for each type of fabrics.

6.9 Permanent extra rinsefunctionWith this function you can keep the extrarinse function permanently on when youset a new programme.• To activate the function press button

6 and button 5 at the same timeuntil the indicator of button 7 is on.

• To deactivate the function press but-ton 6 and button 5 at the sametime until the indicator of button 7 isoff.

6.10 Spin button 9

Press this button to:• Decrease the maximum speed of the

spin phase when you set a pro-gramme.

The display shows only the spinspeeds available with the setprogramme.

• Deactivate the spin phase.• Activate the 'Rinse Hold' function. Set

this function to prevent fabric creases.The appliance does not drain the wa-ter when the programme is comple-ted.

Spin phase is off.

6.11 Temperature button 10

Press button 10 to change the defaulttemperature.

6.12 Acoustic signals functionYou can hear the acoustic signals when:

• You activate the appliance.• You deactivate the appliance.• You press the buttons.• The programme is completed.• The appliance has a malfunction.To deactivate/activate the acoustic sig-nals, press button 8 and button 7 atthe same time for 6 seconds.

If you deactivate the acoustic sig-nals, they continue operate onlywhen you press the buttons andwhen a malfunction occurs.

6.13 Child lock functionThis function prevents children to playwith the control panel.• To activate the function, press button

10 and button 9 at the same timeuntil the display shows the symbol .

• To deactivate the function, press but-ton 10 and button 9 at the sametime until the symbol goes off.

You can activate the function:• Before you press the Start/Pause but-

ton 4 : the appliance cannot start.• After you press the Start/Pause button

4 , all the buttons and the pro-gramme knob are deactivated.

The consumption data shown onthis chart is to be consideredpurely indicative, as it may varydepending on the quantity andtype of laundry, on the inlet wa-ter temperature and on the am-bient temperature.

9. BEFORE FIRST USE1. To activate the drain system, put 2 li-

tre of water in the main wash com-partment of the detergent dispens-er.

2. Put a small quantity of detergent inthe main wash compartment of the

detergent dispenser. Set and start aprogramme for cotton at the highesttemperature without laundry. Thisremoves all possible dirt from thedrum and the tub.

10. USING THE APPLIANCE - WASHING ONLY1. Open the water tap.2. Connect the mains plug to the mains

socket.3. Press button 1 to activate the ap-

pliance.4. Put the laundry in the appliance.5. Use the correct quantity of deter-

gent and additives.

6. Set and start the correct programmefor the type of laundry and soil.

10.1 Loading the laundry1. Open the appliance door.2. Put the laundry in the drum, one

item at a time. Shake the items be-fore you put them in the appliance.

Make sure not to put too much laun-dry in the drum.

3. Close the door.

Make sure that no laundry stays betweenthe seal and the door. There is a risk ofwater leakage or damage to the laundry.

10.2 Filling the detergent and additives

The detergent compartment for the prewash phase, the soakprogramme and for the stain function.Add the detergent for prewash, soak and stain remover beforethe start of the programme.

The detergent compartment for the washing phase.If you use a liquid detergent, put it immediately before you startthe programme.

Liquid additives compartment (fabric conditioner, starch).Put the product in the compartment before you start the pro-gramme.

This is the maximum level for the quantity of liquid additives.

10.3 Setting and starting aprogramme1. Turn the programme knob. The rela-

ted programme indicator comes on.2. The indicator of button 4 flashes

with red colour.

3. The display shows the default tem-perature and spin speed. To changethe temperature and/or the spinspeed, press the related buttons.

4. Set the available functions. The indi-cator of the set function comes on orthe display shows the related sym-bol.

The drain pump can operate fora short time when the appliancefills water.

The appliance adjust auto-matically the cycle time to thelaundry you have put in thedrum to have perfect washingresults in the minimum neces-sary time. After approximate-ly 15 minutes from the start ofthe programme, the displayshows the new time value.

10.4 Interrupt a programme1. Press button 4 . The indicator

flashes.2. Press button 4 again. The washing

gramme and to deactivate the appli-ance.

12.3 Fluff in the fabricsDuring the washing and/or drying phase,some types of fabric, (sponge, wool,sweatshirt) could release fluff.The released fluff could stick to the fab-rics during the next cycle.This inconvenient increases with techni-cal fabrics.To prevent the fluff in your laundry, werecommend that you:• To do not wash dark fabrics after you

washed and dried light coloured fab-rics (new sponge, wool, sweatshirt )and the contrary.

• To dry this type of fabrics at open airwhen they are washed the first time.

• To clean the drain filter.• After the drying phase, clean the emp-

ty drum, the gasket and the door witha wet cloth.

To remove the fluff inside the drum,set a special programme:• Empty the drum.• Clean the drum, the gasket and the

door with a wet cloth.• Set the rinse programme.

• Press at the same time button 9 andbutton 7 to activate the cleaningfunction until the display shows CLE.

13. HELPFUL HINTS AND TIPS

13.1 The laundry load• Divide the laundry in: white, coloured,

synthetics, delicates and wool.• Obey the washing instructions that are

on the laundry care labels.• Do not wash together white and col-

oured items.• Some coloured items can discolour

with the first wash. We recommendthat you wash them separately for thefirst times.

• Button up pillowcases, close zippers,hooks and poppers. Tie up belts.

• Empty the pockets and unfold theitems.

• Turn inside out multilayered fabrics,wool and items with painted illustra-tions.

• Remove hard stains.• Wash with a special detergent heavy

soil stains.• Be careful with the curtains. Remove

the hooks or put the curtains in awashing bag or pillowcase.

• Do not wash in the appliance :– Laundry without hems or with cuts– Underwired bras.– Use a washing bag to wash small

items.• A very small load can cause balance

problems with the spin phase. If thisoccurs, adjust manually the items inthe tub and start the spin phase again.

13.2 Stubborn stainsFor some stains, water and detergent isnot sufficient.We recommend that you remove thesestains before you put the items in theappliance.

Special stain removers are available. Usethe special stain remover that is applica-ble to the type of stain and fabric.

13.3 Detergents and additives• Only use detergents and additives

specially made for washing machines.• Do not mix different types of deter-

gents.• To help the environment, do not use

more than the correct quantity of de-tergent.

• Obey the instructions that you find onthe on packaging of these products.

• Use the correct products for the typeand colour of the fabric, the pro-gramme temperature and the level ofsoil.

• If you use liquid detergents, do not setthe prewash phase.

• If your appliance has not the deter-gent dispenser with the flap device,add the liquid detergents with a dos-ing ball.

13.4 Water hardnessIf the water hardness in your area is highor moderate, we recommend that youuse a water softener for washing ma-chines. In areas where the water hard-ness is soft it is not necessary to use awater softener.To know the water hardness in your area,contact your local water authority.Obey the instructions that you find onthe packaging of the products.Equivalent scales measure the waterhardness:• German degrees (°dH).• French degrees (°TH).

13.6 Garment labelsWhen you dry ther laundry, obey the in-dications on the labels of the manufac-turers:• = The item can be tumble dried• = The drying cycle is at high tem-

• = The drying cycle is at reducedtemperature

• = The item can not be tumbledried.

13.7 Drying cycle durationThe drying time can change dependingon:• speed of the last spin• dryness level• type of laundry• weight of the load sizeGENERAL TIPSRefer to the «Drying programmes» tableto find the average drying times.The experience will help you to dry thelaundry in a more correct way. Take noteof the duration drying time of the cyclesdone before.To avoid the static charge at the end ofthe drying cycle:• Use fabric conditioner in the washing

cycle.• Use special fabric conditioner for tum-

ble dryers.When the drying programme is comple-ted remove the laundry in a short time.

13.8 Additional dryingIf, at the end of the drying programme,the laundry is still damp, set a short dry-ing cycle again.

WARNING!To avoid creases of fabrics orshrinks of the clothing do notover dry the laundry.

14. CARE AND CLEANINGWARNING!

Disconnect the appliance from the mainssupply before you clean it.

14.1 DescalingThe water we use contains limescale. If itbecomes necessary, use a water softenerto remove limescales.Use a special product made for washingmachines. Obey the instructions that youfind on the packaging of the manufactur-er.Do this separately from the laundrywash.

14.2 External cleaningClean the appliance only with soap andwarm water. Fully dry all the surfaces.

CAUTION!Do not use alcohol, solvents orchemical products.

14.3 Maintenance washWith the low temperature programmes itis possible that some detergent stays inthe drum. Make regularly a maintenancewash. To do this:• Empty the laundry from the drum.• Set the hottest cotton wash pro-

gramme• Use a correct quantity of powder de-

tergent with biological properties.After each wash, keep the door open fora while to prevent mould and to let un-pleasant smells go out.

14.4 Door seal

Regularly examine the seal and removeall objects from the inner part.

14.5 DrumRegularly examine the drum to preventlimescale and rust particles.Only use special products to remove rustparticles from the drum.To do this:

• Clean the drum with special productfor stainless steel.

• Start a short programme for cotton atthe maximum temperature with asmall quantity of detergent.

14.6 Detergent dispenser

To clean the dispenser:

Clean the pump if:• The appliance does not drain the wa-

ter.• The drum cannot turn.• The appliance makes an unusual noise

because of the blockage of the drainpump.

• The display shows an alarm code be-cause of the problem with water drain.

WARNING!1. Disconnect the mains plug

from the mains socket.2. Do not remove the filter

while the appliance oper-ates. Do not clean the drainpump if the water in the ap-pliance is hot. The watermust be cold before youclean the drain pump.

To clean the drain pump:

1. Open the drain pump door.

2. Pull the flap out to remove it.

3. Put a container below the recess ofthe drain pump to collect the waterthat flows out.

4. Press the two levers and pull for-ward the drainage duct to let thewater flow out.

5. When the container is full of water,put the drainage duct back againand empty the container. Do steps 4and 5 again and again until no morewater flows out from the drainpump.

6. Pull back the drainage duct and turnthe filter to remove it.

7. Remove fluff and objects from thepump.

8. Make sure that the impeller of thepump can turn. If this does not oc-cur, contact the service centre.

14.8 The inlet hose filter andthe valve filterIt could be necessary to clean the filterswhen:• The appliance does not fill with water.• The appliance fills with the water for a

long time.

• The indicator of button 4 flashes andthe display shows the related alarm.Refer to 'Troubleshooting'.

WARNING!Disconnect the mains plug fromthe mains socket.

To clean the water inlet filters:

1. Close the water tap.2. Remove the water inlet hose from

the water tap.3. Clean the filter in the inlet hose with

a stiff brush.

4. Remove the inlet hose behind theappliance.

5. Clean the filter in the valve with astiff brush or a towel.

14.9 Emergency drainBecause of a malfunction, the appliancecannot drain the water.

14.10 Frost precautionsIf the appliance is installed in an areawhere the temperature can be less than0 °C, remove the remaining water fromthe inlet hose and the drain pump.1. Disconnect the mains plug from the

mains socket.

2. Close the water tap.3. Remove the water inlet hose4. Put the two ends of the inlet hose in

a container and let the water flowout of the hose.

5. Empty the drain pump. Refer to theemergency drain procedure

6. When the drain pump is empty, in-stall the inlet hose again.

15. TROUBLESHOOTINGThe start of the appliance does not oc-cur or it stops during operation.First try to find a solution to the problem(refer to the table). If not, contact theservice centre.

16.2 Unpacking

1. Use the gloves. Remove the externalfilm. If necessary, use a cutter.

2. Remove the cardboard top.3. Remove the polystyrene packaging

materials.

The inlet hose has a water stop device.This device prevents water leaks in thehose because of its natural ageing. Thered sector in the window «A» shows thisfault .If this occur, close the water tap andcontact the service centre to replace thehose.

16.5 Water drainageThere are different procedures to con-nect the drain hose:

With the plastic hose guide.

• On the edge of a sink.• Make sure that the plastic guide can-

not move when the appliance drains.Attach the guide to the water tap orthe wall.

• To a stand pipe with vent-hole.Refer to the illustration. Directly into adrain pipe at a height of not less than60 cm and not more than 100 cm. Theend of the drain hose must always beventilated , i.e. the inner diameter ofthe drainpipe must be larger than theexternal diameter of the drain hose.

Without the plastic hose guide.

• To a sink spigot.Refer to the illustration. Put the drainhose in the spigot and tighten it with aclip. Make sure that the drain hosemakes a loop to prevent that remain-ing particles go in the appliance fromthe sink.

• Directly to a built-in drain pipe in theroom wall and tighten it with a clip.

You can extend the drain hose tomaximum 400 cm. Contact theservice centre for the other drainhose and the extension.
