The city:Helsinki is my new hometown. I have been living here for 5 years. I used to hate it and now I love it!

My STYLISTIC Q550:

Insiders FactsIn 2006, there was an explosion accident at the National Museum in the Silver Room. Most display cases and some silver objects in the museum's Silver Room were damaged in the explosion. Later, police investigations found the cause to be a gas pipe leak!

The National Museum of Finland (Suomen kansallismuseo) presentsFinnish history from the Stone Age to the present day, through objects and cultural history.

The appearance of the building resembles medieval churches and castles.

The architecture belongs to national romanticism and the interior mainly to art nouveau.

The Helsinki Music Centre is home for the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the prestigious Sibelius Academy, the one and only music university in Finland.Insider FactsI’m a gratuate of Sibelius Academy! I hold a Masterof Music in Arts Management.

The Helsinki Music Centre has caused a lot of controvery and for months after the decision to be built there was only a hole in ground. Now it stands beautiful in the heart of the city, plus it has great accoustics!

FORUM is one of the oldest shopping centres in the heart of Helsinki. Under its roof visitors can find 140 stores! You can buy souvenirs, eat and entertain yourself.

The Esplanade Park has long been lined by cafés and restaurants. In the centre of the park

stands Helsinki's first public monument, the statue of Finland's national poet J.L. Runeberg

Havis Amanda is a nude female statue in Helsinki located at the Market Square. She is a mermaid who stands on seaweed as she rises from the water, with four fish spoutingwater at her feet and surrounded by four sea lions. The Havis Amanda statue symbolises the rebirth of Helsinki. Insider FactsAn urban legend has it that Havis Amanda patronises men’s sexual potency. Some men believe that washing face with water from one of Havis Amanda’s fountain and shouting three times ”Rakastaa!" (= "to love") increases men’s sexual ability!

Helsinki City Hall (Helsingin Kaupungintalo, in Finnish) was originally designed as a hotel. The new building received the Europa Nostra award in 1989.

Insider FactsThe City Hall offers a place for a small brake, if you are tired of sightseeing and walking across Helsinki in minus temperatures.
