Membership continues to grow and we now have 138 memberssigned up for season 2020/2021.

Your LDSA membership for the season 2019/2020 will expire at midnighton August 31st 2020.

Our membership renewal process will begin on Saturday 1st August 2020.

Membership will be activated when we receive your membership fee anda completed joining form.

Under 16's will be free to join for season 2020/2021 but their completedmembership form must be accompanied by a completed membershipform from a responsible adult who will be required to pay the £5membership fee.

Membership benefits include:

Due to the problems with post in the current climate it would really helpto us if you can renew via this method.

Renewal letters are going out in the post on Saturday 1st August forthose members who wish to pay by cheque or postal order.

We are delighted that well known Liverpool personality and disabilitycampaigner Gary Skyner has joined the LDSA.

Gary is a tireless campaigner for victims of the thalidomide scandal andhe as made it his life's work to get compensation for all of those whosuffered from this terrible injustice,

He also a well known comedian.

Gary also gives inspirational and motivational talks.

We are delighted to welcome Gary to the LDSA and we hope you will allattend one of his motivational talks when it becomes safe for us to holdan event.

DONATION

Due to our LDSA events being cancelled due to the coronaviruswe have been unable to raise any funds since December 2019when we last held an event. Because of this we have incurred additional costs, mainly withpostage due to the LFC ticket office being closed.

We have also upgraded our LDSA website which is currentlylooking really great and is now full of useful information to ourmembership.

To help with these costs we are pleased to inform all membersthat our secretary was able to obtain a £1000 grant which wasdeposited in the LDSA bank account last week.

The LDSA bank account is in a healthy state considering thecurrent climate and our inability to hold events due to the current

crisis.

We are financially stable and secure at this present moment intime.

The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank ourtreasurer Ann-Marie who is doing a fantastic job and is verymuch appreciated by her fellow committee members.

JUNIOR MEMBERS MOVIE NIGHT

We were delighted and honoured to once again accept aninvitation from the Owen McVeigh Foundation and the Virgil VanDijk family to include some of our junior members and theirfamilies in a family movie night.

These children all lived in the catchment area that was set by theOwen McVeigh Foundation.

All the children received a visit from Jack Black and were eachgiven a movie night goody bag containing the movies below and

Chairman's visit to the Complex Needs CareHome Liverpool

We were recently contacted by the Complex Care Needs Home inLiverpool about one of our members who is under their care.

They said that he was having a particularly difficult time at themoment and asked if we could provide something to hang on hisnewly refurbished room to raise his spirits.

The member concerned has a life limiting illness and thanks to akind donation from one of our committee members we were ableto facilitate this request.

Our chairman Tommy paid him a surprise visit at the care hometo present him with his gifts and by all accounts it was a veryemotional time for all involved.

We wish our member all the very best for the future.

committee, this year the process will involve prospectivecandidates being interviewed for all vacant positions.

We do not want to put any of our members or members of thecommittee in harms way during this pandemic by asking them totravel and we will resume the process when it is safe to do so.

The committee is continuing to conduct its business and we arepleased to say that we are in a really strong position both from afinancial point of view and also an operational one.
