FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS

Maintaining steady growth by developing core businesses and investing in expansion

Lotte’s history of sure and steady growth results from making wise but bold investments in its core and related

businesses, based on a strategy of quality-oriented management. In 2011, the company posted record-high

sales of KRW 73 trillion, over 19% higher than the year before. Its core businesses recorded similar stable rates

of growth in spite of unstable market conditions around the world, such as the financial crisis in the euro zone.

Its overseas operations have grown particularly rapidly, ballooning by an astounding 109% in each of the past

three years. As a result, the company is quickly evolving into “Global Lotte,” advancing its core business divi-

sions, such as retail, petrochemicals, foods, and tourism, into China, Russia, Vietnam, India, and Indonesia. It is

also seeking to enter other markets.

Growing into an Asia’s leading global enterprise

In 2012, Lotte will concentrate on enhancing its core capabilities and stabilizing its global operations while also

staying true to its philosophy of careful and prudent management. In its retail operations, it will continue to

open new stores both at home and abroad. In the foods business, it will raise the efficiency of its overseas opera-

tions by adopting more localized production systems. In the petrochemical sector, it will firm up the competitive-

ness and profitability of its existing businesses through facilities expansions both in Korea and overseas. It will

also carry out large-scale development projects, such as the Shenyang multi-functional complex in China and

the Lotte Center Hanoi in Vietnam. In addition, it will continue to open up new overseas markets, coming closer

and closer to its ultimate goal of becoming an Asia’s leading global enterprise.

Lotte Shopping continued its record of solid growth, with operating profit exceeding KRW 1 trillion. This success was due to three factors: the continuous opening of new stores in Korea, the strengthening of its overseas operations; and the development of new businesses by opening outlets and online malls.

Lotte Confectionery enjoyed satisfactory results in 2011, with sales and operating profit growing by 7.8% and 6.1%, respectively, over the year. This was accomplished in spite of difficult management conditions, including rising prices for raw materials. The company also continued with its strategy of aggressive overseas expansion.

In 2011, KP Chemical achieved record-high business results for the third consecutive year. This success was mainly due to a modest recovery in the global economy and increased demand from China. The company will continue to grow by adding new businesses and growth engines to its base, both at home and abroad.

Honam Petrochemical posted its best-ever results again in 2011, due to stronger-than-expected demand and produc-tion problems among its competitors. In 2012, the company will concentrate on strengthening its functional materials and new growth businesses, while retaining its competitive-ness in the field of basic petrochemical products.

LOTTe SAMDOnG FOunDATIOnThe Lotte Samdong Foundation was founded in De-cember 2009 with the purpose of helping out those in society who need it most. The foundation has carried out many different projects to support un-derprivileged people in Ulsan, such as providing school uniforms for middle and high school stu-dents from low-income families, supporting teen-age heads of households, offering free medical treatment for senior citizens in Ulju, and delivering Children’s Day gifts for underprivileged kids in child-care facilities in Ulsan. The Lotte Samdong Founda-tion will continue to carry out various social welfare projects, support social welfare facilities and those who need help the most, while also working on welfare projects for local residents.

LOTTe GIAnTSBased in Busan, the Lotte Giants are one of the original franchises of the Korean Baseball Organiza-tion. Since 1982, the team has made it to the final series four times and won twice, due in large part to its strong pitching and reliable hitters. In 2010, the team advanced into the playoffs, and recorded a league record for home game attendance in a single season, both for the three consecutive year. The number of its fans attending home games also exceeded 1 million for three years in a row. Despite this success, Lotte still plans on working hard to continuously improve facilities and enhance services for fans.
